I really love these layout videos. Watching the thought processes you go through to go from idea to finished article is truly fascinating. Maybe you could call it the HS2 as that seems to be a train wreck 😀. On a more serious note, what are the pros and cons of using cap cans? They would seem to take up less space, but I’m assuming there is more to it than that. Enjoy your Christmas break and thanks for the marvellous content you’ve posted this year.

Just starting on my second Express build. I got lucky and found an original stancor a3801 output transformer. You can still buy the “correct” Pacific transformers straight from Pacific. Should be fun to compare Pacific vs Stancor.

Merry Christmas!! Your videos are awesome, so thanks for posting and continually engaging with us. I was curious... I have a Traynor YCV50 that I've gutted and have kept the transformers and chassis. What would you recommend to build if you had this to work with?

Nice to see to all come together on the Trainwreck and that there is a lot of memories and heart blood even in your prototypes

23:32 traditionally, banana Jack's/ binding posts are 3/4" center to center and test gear dual plugs generally follow that standard (think Pomona mdp). Do you use 1" spacing to accommodate fat barrel RCA' plugs more common in audio?

Speaker jacks on guitar amps are normally 1/4" TS, not RCA or banana jacks. though, you will find NL4 jacks on bass amps that have a bi-amp out to drive woofers and a horn separately.

For transformer positioning you can use "headphone test", it works every time ;) Even few mm makes a difference.

Hello and Merry Christmas. Quick question is what are your thoughts on running a 8ohm load on a vintage fender like a bandmaster?

Do any Rift amps add spring reverb or volume tremolo? I know there are great pedals available but built in can sound great.

Now we're talking! I've long been intruigued by Trainwrecks. A friend of mine knew Kenny Fisher and has owned a few. He's always so positive about them. Love seeing the design process in real time! Super interested to hear this one when it's done. Merry Christmas matey!

Looking forward to the Car Crash A/B demo! I wondered why the Pacific TrainWreck OT didn't seem to have the correct turns ratio/impedance! So it was intentional. Tricky fellow that Ken Fischer.

I know the 7591s are weird pinout, but they are interesting tubes. I built a ab763 reverb style preamp (no termolo) going into a pair of them in cathode bias u/l. It's a fun little amp. But they would sound good in a TW style amp.

Yup, I’m keen to prototype something with them now…will have to think up something cool!

the bright switch is an on/off/on type, not sure how you will be able to get all three positions with a push pull ??

DR Z has the Zwreck so you could go with WRECKED or R wrecked. also maybe do a duo rectifer to get that ballsy gain that most players like when playing metal or grunge
