Traktor Pro 4 Review - What's New?

I've been using traktor 4 for a week now and I have to say the following, the main future I was expecting was the flexible beatgrid and I'm disappointed with them. positives: 1) the ozone maximizer is brilliant! traktor always had the best sound quality, compared to other software's by far! now... whoaw! my mind was blown, better than ever! very useful in our work! 2) pattern players are amazing, all this drum machine's are great for live remix, amazing tool for us techno DJs! they work perfectly with amazing sound quality. takes you to the next level of your dj abilities! 3) no subscription model. 4) stems negatives: 1) flexible beatgrid we waited many years for traktor and unfortunately it is pure disappointment because you have to do them manually, they should have been at least automatic, after so many years of waiting, I expected it to be something like...2.5 beatgrid generation. check out DJ PRO's liquid beatgrid THIS IS A GAME CHANGER!! this is the main reason DJ PRO is selling like crazy. the first thought I would work to update if I were NATIVE INSTRUMENTS would be to bring BEATGRID 3.0 2) NATIVE INSTRUMENTS please for many years to bring us new hardware! now is the time! we want a new Z2, we need deck's something like the Denon LC 6000 would be perfect for the traktor, we want new modular controllers, controllers. 3) we need a lot of new hardware to be plug n play with TRAKTOR, finally wake up and collaborate with other companies!! NATIVE must to start making .tsi files for as many 3rd party hardware controllers as possible !

I'm happy with my Z2, tbh I don't care for a new mixer. Some decks would be cool but, why switch from pioneer when they're what you're going to find at every single c lub/rave? Auto beat stretch would be cool but manually, at least it's there.

@@djcetra Z2 is excellent mixer but the problem is that it hasn't been in production for years and unfortunately they haven't made a replacement, if it breaks, like mine, you can't get a new one and that's a problem. since there are no spare parts anymore they are very limited , whatever you findin stock.the other problem is that it was the only battle mixer for traktor.

True while you can not batch process Stems in Traktor 4 you can however process many files to be processed one after another like queueing. While processing one file I wanted to see if I could process more, so I clicked on another file to generate stems while the previous file was still generating. I did the process about four more times. The outcome was great when one file finished the other started automatically it continued this cycle without any additional interaction from me until all songs were completed "Queueing". It uses a lot of CPU but, this method works just set it and forget, and it will complete the task. I have not tried to do more than 10 files in my testing. I'm sure I will steadily increase the number to see if there is a breaking point.

I wish it was easier to queue up tracks to generate stems. If you go one by one you can do it, but that's it. I wish you could highlight a bunch and have it add all the selected tracks to the queue

You can adjust the volume and pitch in the stem by pressing the pad below the desired track and using encoder 1 or 2 above the pad.

Traktor Pro 3 and now 4 have many problems and things I would like to see changed or added functionality. Problems: 1. When you set C&D as remix decks and add drops(one shot) Auto setting doesn't work to mark one as the master automatically. Then manually setting it to Master only works if you don't scratch with the Master deck. Constantly while loading different tracks, you must keep setting which deck is master. This is a pain because sometimes you forget. 2. When you set up your decks the way you like, effects, setting up the decks, as either track, remix, or stems deck; upon closing the out of Trakor looks like it saves your setup, When you open that assumption is entirely false. You have to each time set up the interface this is also a pain. 3. Also while you have four decks set up A&B track decks, C&D remix decks, and go into settings and select only two deck layouts (A&B) use sync the tempo sliders will not work once you disable sync. 4. Traktor Pro 4 "KILLED" the initial beat grid white marker if you reset the grid 5. Accessing a network drive in Traktor Pro 4 does work it gets stuck at saying (Loading Sub Directories) This was addressed TP3 with external hard drives and Network drives. 6. Setting the effects to Pattern Player and I'm using the S3 controller, the Pattern Player sounds like a metronome

I have been a Traktor user since 2012. I am about to jump ship to serato. I currently am using rane twelves mk2s and seventy a-trak. They work with Traktor, but they are somewhat limited. I used a z2 for years but had to get a new mixer and native instruments still hasnt released an mk2 version. Also, I have had issues with tracks taking a long time to load and almost crashing traktor. I figure I will make the decision to switch in the next few weeks.

It would be great to be do stems how they have it on the fly. They have by far surpassed Serato DJ with the stems. For now they should do it just vocals and instrumental to start.

Just wish the flexible beat grids were a bit more easy to use. Definitely feel NA are a few years behind. AI can analyse a track and sort out all of the BPM issues for you!

To clarify you "CANNOT" right-click on "Any" Music file to generate Stems. The STEM GENERATOR feature is accessible once you import tracks into Traktor in your Track Collection or playlists. Outside that those folders the Stems option is not present!

Unfortunately, the market leader is still not able to display the waveform cleanly in the parallel view. But since the problem was brought over from Pro 3 and was advertised so grandly when it was introduced, it's a bit of an indictment. Others have been able to do this better for years. Unfortunately, this also applies to stem integration. Others have been able to do this for a long time and are still significantly better. I was really looking forward to Pro 4, but unfortunately I was very disappointed. I hope NI finds its way back to its old strength!

Hi! Are you saying that for old disco that use tempos instead of beats we have to add markers every 4 beats for the entire song? You know some of those old 12" records can be 15 minutes long, or more. Isn't that a bit tedius? Does anyone have any other suggestions for mixing disco with today's dance music?

I have a problem. at the same bpm, but changing beat grid in another area of the song (withount bpm, just a beat grid point different) at another time of the song....i'm getting a big shit, it's changing the bpm of the song of the other beatgrid points....it's a bug or i don't understand me how to do this without changing the bpm of the other beatgrid point.

If you download and buy DJ studio and put a song in that's off tempo the AI option will do it for you. Save the track and your good to go. Something TRAKTOR should implement

No need to rely on syncing; ride the groove old school. Many DJs depend on syncing, making their set sound stale and robotic. Try dancing to the groove instead - you be more entertaining. Just saying 😊
