This is one of those songs that takes me back to a dark time in my life when I was having a mental breakdown for about a year in 1999, but listening to it then and now has always been cathartic. Absolutely beautiful track.

I knew Zoe after her work with Trance to the Sun, from 1996-99. She left the band in Santa Barbara & moved to Scottsdale where she worked as a waitress. In 2008, she was arrested for stabbing another girl multiple times. Apparently, she was covered in blood when the cops pulled her over. I like this version of August Rain, never heard it before...

I'm curious to know, what was she like when you knew her? I could imagine she would've been pretty eccentric. Her voice was absolutely beautiful, it's a shame that she ended up committing such a horrendous crime.

There is something sort of unhinged and menacing about her singing. "We'll have lots of fun at your expense. [...] And if you ever get hungry, don't hesitate to steal your food. I wouldn't want you to starve now, that wouldn't be nice." Pretty, but kind of unsettling. Makes the news of her being arrested for stabbing someone a bit less of a surprise.

I think younger people are getting into it now. A friend of mine is a huge darkwave fan. I like it quite a bit as well, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.
