I have the utmost respect for these kind of DJs, not the kind that have their sets pre recorded and spend their set time waving their hands to an already mixed set, whilst they do nothing.

I remember this night, that dance floor was shaking up and down all night - the energy was unreal. Great times :) I was a regular from 99-02. The Annexe was the best room...
@Soulrollsdeep3 жыл бұрын
This isn't the Annexe, it's the main room (bar on the right with the VIP bit upstairs). But the Annexe was good...but neither could come close to the Courtyard, that was the best clubbing space on planet Earth at the time, especially when Buggedout was running the venue the last Friday of every month

@@Soulrollsdeep Do you remember the guy who used to wear the barbie vest at most of the Bugged Out nights!? Had some mint times there, particularly the 7th birthday when the crowd sang the cornetto theme tune to Dave Clark after he finished :D

@@Soulrollsdeep wasn't a fan of the courtyard. Annexe for me and then the main room. 95-01 were my Cream years. Great times

What a time. When clubbers focused on the music and not taking duck mouth selfies, whilst moving side to side at half the speed the track is playing at.

Still got my original member ship card and of course i never had to queue up even for the big line ups like Sasha , 1992 up to 2000 were the best times , of course Oakies legendary residency in the back room , even witnessed the opening of the courtyard and Daren Hughes and Warren Barton true to form bringing in new sounds to the club with LTJ Bukem , serious nothing like the Nation full on week-enders and my favourite New yeas eve bash and of course the annual birthday bash . Nothing like it today , with its impressive line ups week in and week out , note Seb i do believe gave Yousef Zaher a big boost in his DJ career .

Sound Associates - Music (Circulation Mix) - put together by guys who understand how a danceflooor works. One of my favourite records of that era. Cox tore the roof off playing it there a few weeks earlier.

The thing with "super clubs" like Cream was that it was already over by then and it had become a cynical cash grab with original ravers like Hughes and Barton packaging their experience and selling it to a larger audience. The rave thing has been flogging a dead horse since 93/94. That's when the quality of pills started its decline. The music has constantly evolved and improved, but the scene itself and the vibe had gone in the opposite direction. Pills didn't start to mong people out until late 1993 when they started being cut with opiates and ketamine. This is a matter of record and reported in Mixmag at the time. The innocence had been lost forever. If you weren't going out and taking Ecstasy from 88-94 you don't know. You only think you do. The people in their 30's now who eulogise Mitzubishis have no idea.
