The death save looks more like a friggin tilt 😂 The most fun I ever had as a kid was on a Simpsons machine with a broken tilt. I worked out (pun intended) that I could lift the front of the machine up and roll the balls back into play. They're not light when ya like 14 though. Came home with sore arms and a big bruise on my leg from liftin the machine up all day. Played all day on a dollar or 2 though 😁😂🤣

That "death save" will cause a Tilt on even the most insensitive table. What real players do it is slap the opposite side to keep the ball out of the Outlane in the first place.

There's a move I like but I dunno if there's a name for it, when the ball is flying down towards the flippers at a high rate of speed towards the middle, I hit one flipper then the other and the ball bounces off both flippers and ricochets back up.

Typically there are bars installed beneath the flippers to make death saves much more difficult. There were some good tricks though.
@Buc_Stops_Here Жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. They also on some of the modern machines have a sway sensor in the machine. When you do that hard move it activates and deactivates the flippers so you cannot save the ball.

Im not sure if its considered a technique but pressing one flipper button on the flipper closest to the ball, followed by the other flipper button a fraction of a second later. Can save some really iffy balls that are about to drain down the center. But pressing both down at the same time is not recommended as others have mentioned

How can you do a death save without tilting the machine
@dominikkra46886 жыл бұрын
Its Important to know how much tilt warnings are allowed. You need 1-3 tilt warnings to do a death save and in tounaments it is forbidden and the machine will tilt anyway if the tilt are installed corectly.
@dbsrly_56745 жыл бұрын
Its more about aiding the ball to move faster to the center drain by starting with a light nudge on the right side as its moving towards the center. Then with the added momentum another gentle nudge on the left side as the ball hits the center drain. Remember to have your left flipper raised. Trick is the first nudge to get the ball moving fast enough that you dont need a big push to get it back into play.

What's the difference with death save and bang back?
@usedforks2 жыл бұрын
Does anybody have any advice for getting out of side drains? I try nudging, I try bopping the table, but nothing hardly ever seems to work. Obviously I understand I should be preventing the ball from going there in the first place, but is there anything I can do once it's already gotten to that point?
@svedge422 жыл бұрын
You gotta learn how to nudge. Imagine you're moving the table and not the ball, so you gotta hit the ball back to the flippers with those rubber things.

You can change the tilt mechanics,externally! It's still cheating. There is a conical weight surrounded by a metal ring.If the weight touches the outer ring...TILT. Don't let the owner see this: pick up the machine and drop it HARD. Sometimes the weight will slide down the shaft that is holding it. NO TILT.

Some people are really good and they can actually grab the ball with the flipper when the ball is coming towards it and not let it roll up the flipper. The drop catch here wasn't quite like that but its pretty good nonetheless. If you're really good, you can do the tip shot after you've mastered the drop catch.

The trick you're calling a "bangback" is just another method for what's called a death save. I've never seen someone do it by slamming one of their hands into the machine and honestly I don't know that it's even practical. You'd have to be able to react to the ball going into an outlane then position your hand correctly to smack the machine. All this requires a lot of movement when traditionally the death save was done by a hard nudge or movement of the machine with the hands or pelvis which doesn't require you to take a hand off of your flipper button. Also as someone else already pointed out a lot of the new machines have much more sensitive tilt mechanisms that basically prevent all death saves so I don't know if it's really all that relevant of a technique anymore in regards to modern play. Also I think it's worth mentioning that a few of these techniques such as the post pass and cradle seperations won't work on all machines. If the post isn't close enough to the flipper it's much harder or even impossible to do them reliably. Once again quite a few of the newer machines are designed this way such as Ghostbusters.

Yes, Dark knight is fairly forgiving, at least the one I played so that move might be harder to pull of on other tables. Also I just want to mention that it most of the time is very hard to pull off at full speed. But as long as you aren't at a tournament it's worth a shot.
