There used to be a Horse Shoe Trail mailbox registry at the confusing turnoff you mentioned. It used to help guide you around that turn but it was ripped out within the last couple years.

The section from the Millstone Trail down to 501 is one I want to do with my hiking buddy some day. I had a crazy day today as well. Washer quit working, mice in the basement, goofed up a sewing customer's order.....😖😵‍💫. I'll have to try to remember the paw-paws for next year!

hiking boots make all the difference! Never leave home without them. I had a great hoagie today BTW, I ordered it with oil on the side which they forgot to put in the sack but it was serendipitous as I learned I didn't even miss it!

Found a video by What in the History about " Shadow of Death . A valley north of Shay Gap . A Historical marker on Rt 522 . The name was given to the valley by Conrad Weiser when he traveled through the valley going to a meeting with native Americans west of there. Check it out.

Yes, mile-a-minute berries are edible. They are sweet and can be eaten fresh. The berries are high in potassium. The tender leaves and shoots can also be eaten raw or cooked as a salad green or vegetable. However, the greens contain oxalic acid, which is minimized when cooked.
