Just make the statement at the beginning that people "identified" as male vs female were in this study. And how can you truly solve this research problem?

Destroying the climate where public opinion (and more importantly: extremist ideologies) gets a say in science. But more exactly, this is not controlled immediately and directly by public opinion so much as the scientific orthodoxy having far too many members who buy into the current thing - this ideology - or are at least intimidated by the threat it presents - and act accordingly. It's the exact same effect you see under a dictatorship where everyone knows you're going to get in trouble if you don't get the result that pleases the party/dictator. So you'd have to change the culture or mentality of the scientific power-holders who get to approve or deny things in the field to one in which they recognize the moral ideal is to pursue the truth - regardless of how anyone feels about that truth.

Basically people coping with issues in their lives don't want research to go forward since it might make themselves feel worse. Its just like how men paying child support every month don't want it to be publicly known that the reason they're in that situation is that they tried to get their kid aborted and that was used against them in court.
