Horst Kwech.....an Aussie who actually raced very little in his home country b4 moving to the US in 1961 and was a regular U/2L winner in the early days of Trans-Am

goddamn now this is my kind of racing

with the new camaro challenger and the new boss mustang i think Trans am racing should be brought back like it should be in the late 1960's and 1970's Thumbs up if you agree

if the races could be like back in 1969 when they used street cars, not the custom tube frame car that Trans AM went to after the factory Sponsor's left!

And there was American Motors breathing right down his back. First year out new car new engine. Very little credit given, come to think of it as a teenager with a javelin I never heard one person Chevy Ford or Chrysler friend of mine tell me about how dominant American Motors was. Congratulations to Chevrolet Donahue and Penske who in 1970 headed up American Motors in Trans Am

American Motors did win in 1971 But keep in mind AMC was the only factory team in the hunt. If ford and Chevy would have been racing AMC wouldn't have won, The Bid Moore Mustang made it a close race and they only raced 5 races unsponsored!

You can give me the money story every time. That American Motors middle size V8 engine will smoke your big block Chevys and big block Mopar cars and big block Fords all day long Apples to Apples a 390 AMX will compete strongly all day long. AMC people are tight serious racers and we have an amazing engine and car provided for us from a conservative car company that didn't hit the market late, it was just right to see everyone else's mistakes and do their homework. I believe the American Motors car Powertrain is for the most part a superior product. There is so much to talk about the AMC V8 High nickel content forged-steel crankshaft and rods in every single 390 and 401 ever made something your big city production only minded money-minded guys never had the care for and 30 other stories. Instead of putting down AMC why don't you tell me some of the genius about the AMC cylinder head compared to all the competition? Tell me a story about detail and Design, tell me about safety tell me about the overwhelming Love American Motors put into its product. All my life big three bullies have not complemented our cars, you find reason after reason to put them down because you're jealous and you are just that bullies, you can't handle it so you have to make fun

@@tim05metro You can tell your BS stories all you want but fact is fact. in 1971. The Ford team only raced 5 races and if they would have raced more they would have beaten Donahue, even in the 5 races they made it close! AMC pored a ton of money into the T/A program The Bud Moore team were g=just using old cars left from the 1970 season and no Factory backing! AMC did win the Championship but Ford and Chevy Factory's were not competing!

My brothers saw all these at Road America.

Ford was the biggest contributor to the Donahue dominance showing up with a car engine that couldn`t finish!

Yep the tunnel port 302 was crap. Would have been better to run the 289s. I think I heard some team even wanted to but Ford wouldn't let them.
@Muddy79Ford15 жыл бұрын
Yup, they sure did... wish The still did them, even in the Vintages, though noone would run em lol
@Poohdaddymagic5 ай бұрын
If the Ford drivers knew how to operate that Tunnel Port engine Donahue would win maybe 2 races all season
@wags195514 жыл бұрын
Donahue won all those races because they used an extra large fuel filler hose and another canister that held approx. 6 gallons more of fuel than was allowed in the fuel cell... It wasn't a fact of better car or driver ....They cheated.....

Ford was no competition, the engine they brought to the party was a dud that wouldn`t last a race! Ford forgot the adage of if you want to finish first, first you have to finish!
