Solo backpacking the Trans Catalina Trail, one of the premier multi-day hiking trails in California, has been on my list for a while. I recently traveled to Catalina Island to thru-hike the TCT in 5 days. It was epic!
The Trans Catalina Trail covers 38.5 miles from Avalon to Parsons Landing. It features epic views and nearly 10,000 feet of elevation gain and loss over long climbs and descents. With wildlife including a herd of Bison and Island Foxes, this mini-thru hike is an amazing Southern California hiking experience.
Santa Catalina Island is about 22 miles off the coast of Los Angeles, CA, and is easily reachable by the Catalina Express Ferry.
