Honest question: @6:04 A broken BERD spoke means a DNF? Are they somehow under more tension than a tradional spoke and therefore when one breaks, the wheel is unrideable?

Yes. The wheel was hitting the fork. First I’d seen of those silly things. Wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole.
