Oh my goodness! I’m 72 yrs old this month, and I feel as if I just discovered music this day when I couldn’t sleep and got up, went downstairs and stumbled upon BBC show called transatlantic session - what EARWORM MATERIAL. Can’t wait to tell my grown son about it when he and his wife come over to dinner tomorrow.

Every aspect of these sessions is superb - the musicians, the music of coarse, but also the lighting/camera work, the sound mix, the beautiful interim shots of the Scottish country side - it's all perfect! Also, I have never seen so many musicians smile while playing! This is one of my go to spots on You Tube when I am depressed. I usually break into a happy cry within the first five minutes...

I like the sympathy and smile of Sharon Shannon and her talent in the accordion, thanks.

Why hasn't this series gotten more views? It's criminal that today Gaelic and by extension folk music doesn't have a younger fan base.

Scottish Gaelic is the most beautiful language in the world to hear.

@@hobb29 far off. This type of complex music is exactly what Hiphop is built around and why I hone my vocals for rap more than any other style

The outro played here in Dirk Powell's "Some Sweet Day" is nothing short of astonishing. (around 12:00 mark or so)

likewise I have only just happened upon these, been listening and watching for about (only!) three days - I do seem to recall hearing someone mentioning the TS at a folk club some time ago but did not know what it was about. . . shame 🤨
