You know....There are people you envy and just know, no matter how much you dedicate your life to their instrument, you will NEVER be them..... Arturo has always been one of those guys for me
@JamesThomas-dn6hz3 ай бұрын
Maybe, but the guy lives with a trumpet in his mouth. If we were that dedicated to it, we too may reach that pinnacle. There is no escaping lots of hard work.

he actually can be quite nice to listen to when he isn't just spamming the valves
@IsaiahSMC9 ай бұрын
It seems like that, but that’s kind of the style of bebop, and to non musicians it seems like randomness, until you really listen to what’s in those “random” Runs/lines he progressively goes through.

@@IsaiahSMC i'm a trained jazz musician, fluent in the tradition of bebop. what Arturo Sandoval does most of the time is not 'the style of bebop' that Charlie Parker and dizzy Gillespie pioneered, it's either just out of time valve spamming that doesn't swing, or stratospheric squeaking that, guess what, also doesn't swing.
@IsaiahSMC9 ай бұрын
@@JohnHaslamMusic while I won’t blame you for that, most of his live performances he results in that for Filler in his Improve, Most of his “valve spamming” does take control when it comes to whatever octave he is in, especially when it comes to a certain style that he is faced with, and each musician has their own type of Way doing Bebop, I think he is able to match the music well with his interpretation of music I know this is also a little irrelevant but Dizzy was Arturo Sandovals Mentor for years.

@@JohnHaslamMusiche’s an incredible trumpeter, and I’m sure you’re not denying that fact. I agree that many of his live performances entail extremely technically demanding extremely high notes, but I’ve never heard him go out of time my friend
@LuisCamacho-ql5so5 ай бұрын
@@JohnHaslamMusicI agree with you 100%. I’ve played bebop for decades and transcribed all the greats, Arturo has the skill to be among them but more often disappoints me by fluff rather than music. Loved this solo though and shows how great he really is!
