I have a strong gut feeling Hasbro didn't want to pony up the licensing fee because it coincided with Lambo Countach LPI 800-4 special edition that base retailed for $2.6 million and only 112 cars were made. Had that anniversary edition Lambo Countach never released at the time, the licensing fee would have been a lower cost and Breakdown would have been released as his original Lambo Countach!

Transformers AofP Megatronus looks COOL, BUT, if the RUMOR is true, that is will become Studio Series 86 Megatron, and he stays a TANK, it will NOT be MEGATRON. HasBlo and the Powers that be, need to get over the insanity of having a Transformer change into a Firearm.

Great finds and reviews. Yeah, I'm not feeling that new Superion at all. The combiner skeleton system worked better for the Stunticons using Motor Master's trailer, but Silverbolt doesn't have or need one. Now they got him like Star Saber with the armored-up jet base stuff. Solid Pass on them. I'm glad the Legends Trainbots are almost coming out, and that Samurai Primal looks awesome!! I can't wait for Chettor and Megs!! Take care!

I personally like how Superion looks. I also like how thick the white plastic is. Shouldn't have an issue with discolouration with it as long as you don't stick it right by your window. Should mention that his legs are correct, they should be behind him but they seem to stick out too much., but the arms aren't correct however this makes more sense than the G1 animation. Wings would technically get in the way of elbow articulation if they went that route. I don't get why they couldn't copy one of the third party transformations again.

Newage/Magic Square could easily get this right, as they have done right with combiners in the past. The question is when will they release a Superion! Note: I would have got the Menasor set(individually), but they F'ed bad with Breakdown(they had big distribution issues across the US). I knew something was wrong when Breakdown took so long to release. It also turned out that Motor Masters Truck mode trailer had to be 3rd partied upgraded because it looked incomplete. I also have a gut feeling the reason that Hasbro didn't make Breakdown a Lambo Countach, because it coincided with the limited Lambo Countach anniversary edition that only certain ppl could special order with base price of $2.6 million! That special edition Lambo Countach basically bumped up the licensing fee that Hasbro would have had to pony up to, to make Breakdown a Lambo Countach! Maybe they still could have done it, but their profit margins would have taken a hit based on the retail price points they had for the set. Of course if anyone from Hasbro/Lamborghini were to be asked about this, they would probably deny anything of the sort took place.

Tuesday isn't official until we get our news roundup. Thanks as always! That Mecha Invasion Devastator looks so good finished. Anxiously awaiting the next two coming out and I'm glad the legs came out looking so good. For that MMC Drift, that cup and cup holder are important to the show the car mode is based on, so it's a nice easter egg for those fans. I'm a little disappointed at how the new Superion turned out, but I guess they wanted to reuse the frame and make engineering easier. At least they found a way to integrate it with Silverbolt.

It seems that the general consensus is that Motormaster’s trailer doubling as Menasor’s skeleton seems reasonable. This concept does not logically extend itself to Silverbolt at all…

No. But it does extend reasonably naturally to Bruticus (who is presumably next) and Defensor (disappointed if he isn't, at the latest, two years' time immediately following Bruticus) and, therefore, I think I want Superion done the same way. This implementation of the approach is as good as I can imagine the concept's poor fit to work and it's probably best that they 'rip off the band aid' by doing him sooner-rather-than-later (as much as I'd've massively preferred to see Defensor next).

@@TrypticOwen I also think this combiner-skeleton gimmick will serve Bruticus well. Onslaught's long alt mode could easily accommodate a combiner-skeleton section. As unnatural as the application of the combiner-skeleton gimmick is to the Arielbots, I still think the combiner mode positives outweigh the Concorde kibble negatives.

Hate to be a harbinger, but to my eyes, the preview artwork for Vortex seems to have the same skinny forearms that Slingshot has. He may be a retool, which means Bruticus may do the "skeleton" combining thing too. I don't mind since I like this Superion, but I get people's complaints. Plus Bruticus doesn't have the symmetrical legs that Menasor and Superion have, so... we'll see how that turns out. But anyway, legends stuff is cooler, so I may have to jump on the Raiden train (no pun intended)!

I was a bit worried about Mecha Invasion Devastator feet in the prototype, but now that we have actual figures, I'm very happy. Can't wait to get the next set. I don't know much about Waspinator, but I like that figure. I hate Superion bc he is so much part forming. I finally decided to get Magic Square Menasor despite his part forming bc that was what he looks like in the cartoon. However, I cannot make such an exception with Superion. I do like his sculpt though, just not his transformation. I'm interested in the Sonic crossover but I think the bot mode looks a little weird, while the alt mode looks phenomenal. I'll wait until it's $40 to get it. Great time to be a transformers. Bad time to be a wallet.

When you try to make things cartoon accurate, you're going to get some serious compromises. I like the aerialbots individually, but I can assure you that I will make the Superion once and then display them separately. And I won't bother with Silverbolt's pancake mode. Superion deserves better.

Age of the Primes looks like a very weak line-up - by my count, 7 of the thirteen Primes and, most disappointingly, no progress towards completing the mini-autobots; next October's gonna be a long wait to get Venom and the last two Aerielbots (and I hope they don't pull a Breakdown and fall short of the level of resculpting that might be expected); worst of all, no Alpha Bravo... ;-) Hopefully, we'll see a decent amount from capsule lines and SS86 to back up AotP. I ordered Star Convoy and the first three Aerielbots; also looking forward to Swindle, Venom and completing the Aerielbots (I really didn't feel like I needed to upgrade my CW superion but it does look good). I really hope to somehow see Windcharger, Swerve and Outback, somehow this year.
