Transferring a resident with a weak side

I am a nursing instructor and teach Fundamentals of Nursing. I was watching this video to assess posting for my nursing students, however, the nurse is transferring the patient to their weak side. The patient should always be transferred to their strong side.

I disagree as a PT. There might be instances that the patient has to transfer to the weaker side, thus should be taught both ways.

some pointer: the chair should be on her strong side so she can help with her good arm; and the placement of your head and the patient's head should switch so that the caregiver is looking at the w/c. Thanks

Thanks for the video. It was good. The background audio could have been better filtered, but the audio itself wasn't necessarily important. I needed a refresher on how to do the hemi transfer, so just the visuals was adequate. Thanks.

The wheelchair is facing the wrong side!! It’s supposed to face the UNAFFECTED SIDE

The chair should be on the patient's strong side. This patient had a left sided weakness; therefore, the chair should be at the head of the bed and not the foot. This would give the patient access to use his/her right hand to reach the chair.

Give her credit people Some aides now when they leave class and go into the home or Nursing home they forget Everything they have learn in class even Compassion, Caring and how to be Loving most important Humility for the person you are Caring for those aides definitely need a refresher Course because they are Terrible aides I feel sorry for the people they care for No Heart just a job to them Sad
