it's beautiful and gives me a sense of optimism - we need stuff like that in every city and town.

Seems positive. With people seemingly turning more to the internet these days for communion (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, hell I certainly get a lot out of it) the promotion of real life neighbourhood communities are a great thing to see.

Hi, I wanted to translate this into Japanese and was wondering if you could tell me who I need to get permission from if I were to post it. It'd be awesome to share this with the japanese!!! Also, where can i get a higher resolution version?

Awesome, things I think about all the time. There are place for people to meet, in malls and greenways but meeting people on a human level is getting more difficult. The grid does a good job of keeping us slaves with people having an opportunity to meet eachother as slaves.

@emwaiskateboard lol its not like a few trees and a plaza will kill you. just avoid it if you hate being in a public space so much.

I'm sorry you don't understand yet. If you watch some of the films I've made, it might help explain why I'm saying what I am.

I can't believe the ignorant comments on this video. Do you really know what you are speaking out against. You are speaking out against a bunch of people that decided within THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES to do something proactive to bring the community together and share their lives with each other. Why is that so intimidating to you? How does that destroy your "formerly great nation"? Is this great nation so fragile that it can't withstand a community that just wants a place to gather and be together?

I'm confused... why does this one guy keep saying "the grid" is the thing causing the problem? What kind of street design would he prefer, the inefficiency and car dependence of squirmy disconnected suburb streets? Grid systems are actually great for pedestrianism and community.

Michael, great questions. Answers are easy to observe almost anywhere else when you travel across the oceans. You can see what I mean in villages across the world that are not laid out by imposing the colonial systems of empire. The grid is not merely a shape. I utterly disagree about it facilitating mobility. It is awful for pedestrians and transport systems! It begins with unbelievable violence, then enforces a monotonous, placeless framework for imposing systems that are isolationist and exploitive. I hope you know what I mean by these things.
