That was pretty cool to see, I think a lot of your followers would like to see more stuff like this as some of us are moving towards buying our own planes.

Looks amazing! Good job. And even on cars you will find lights with “Top” on them. Mostly LEDs because it has to do with drainage for water and moisture. There is usually a small port on the bottom to allow it to drain to keep the circuit boards dry. It’s a lot more important in LEDs than with halogen lights that do not have all the circuitry in them. The port is usually covered by a small nomex breather or just a small pin hole. You can see it on the landing light when you showed the back of the two. That little grayish/green circle on the bottom was the breather and port cover.

I wish you would emphasize not using power tools to put the screws back in, or at least tightening them using the clutch so they don't strip out. My biggest issue with DIYers is over tightening and stripping screws out. Props on mentioning corroded screws, but there is no mention of how to deal with corroded fasteners.

Curious... for the cost of a connector why you wouldn't replace the old handshake on the green light with a brand new one so that you have a nice new connector in place instead of an old one that could corrode faster than the new one? Seems odd that you didn't make the change while you could. Great videos. Living vicariously :)!

Looked fine after cleaning. An easy swap later if it fails. If it ain’t broke, don’t mess with it. It was also to show the compatibility between old & new connectors. Something you rarely see in the automotive world

I always like these videos. Couple of thoughts as your and ap I know you didn’t want to add the extra wire so you could have the strobes but i would think with a switch you could turn it off in imc if you needed to. Also I wouldn’t want my ap trying to install as fast as possible but that’s just my two cents. Otherwise like your videos and love arrow’s as that’s what I have
@gear_down7 ай бұрын
You’re missed the whole point. It’s MY plane, and I don’t want to wire a switch. If it was YOUR plane, and YOU PAID ME to do the install, then I’d install it on YOUR plane however YOU want. And I would check harge YOU for it accordingly. But I don’t work on any GA planes that I don’t personally own. As such, I’ll install items the way I want to, on MY plan. Thanks for watching Cheers 🍻

@@gear_down sorry I hope I didn’t insult you as I love the show. I just really like the quality of the lights and functionality of them as I have them on my arrow as well. I do hear what your saying in imc as I know it can be distracting but I found the biggest issues to be with the tail beacon which there is a fix. Either or love your channel and would love to meet up as I am at kwhp which is close to you.

If you need someone to hold a camera, I can do that for you! I’m liked and subscribed, plus I watched all this video. It’s neat to see people work on planes and learn from that. In addition, I dont understand why some planes still have old lighting .. a cheap flash light are better than some landing lights I see. R44 is a great place to start and a buy. After you get a couple hundred hours you’re really going to enjoy the MD500. (H500C is good start but the NOTAR is a gas.) I have 9K RW and 2K FW., MEL and getting back into my IFR. Really like your style. You might look at Gazelle. SA341/342. It’s like a big H500. VNE 168kts. Sometimes they are cheaper than H 500s. BTW, I agree with your decision, not to fly true IFR in an SEL VNY to FAT. I have done it over the same route, even up to KTVL, KMEV many times, obviously with no issue but it’s a risk. Did it more often in a B60 Duke, which was cake. On the other hand, having flown >9000 hours in helicopters, I probably have a different risk tolerance than you do. Good luck.
