Love the practicality of the build. I like the second table since it allows for more people and you avoid all the circular complexity. A suggestion for your round topper to get it to line up. Put stopper blocks on the underside of the leaf with the center bar and use that to set it against it's side of the table, then put the magnets between the table leaves, Tha way when you put the second one in place it will lock onto the first one and the magnets can be full face to face, making them really strong. Great build!

I really dug the 2nd table, mostly for the rail system. And I'm glad you addresses the cup-holders-in-armrest problem before I made that mistake. My only question is, what do you usually do with the tops of your tables when you're using the gaming function? I saw them against the eall for the 3rd one, but does that work with the larger ones?

Thanks for your comment! Sorry for the late reply. For our large 6 seater table, it's easiest if two people remove that together, and then we usually lean it against the wall on the carpet.

Here's a timestamp where you can get a good view of how we did it. We screwed three boards underneath the frame so that the player area can rest on those planks. We also dyed them a darker colour to match the table. Hope this helps! :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3urXoRpl7N8ps0&si=vJbgFHO3n3V67XIV

Like a lot of comments, I also like table 2 the most, but I see that you only play small card rather than board games. I need a table for four players that can accommodate Rising Sun, Blood Rage, Brass, Ticket to Ride, Earth, Foundations of Rome, Terraforming Mars…. None of which will fit comfortably on your size table. It’s not a criticism of the build which is great and can be upscaled to fit, just perhaps a comment about the breadth of games you indulge in. Thanks for the build hints and tips.
@WorldOfBoardCraft2 ай бұрын
You're right, most dining tables are narrow and wouldn't fit some of the heavier games. That's one of the downsides with doing this kind of build, if you need that extra width. Thanks for your comment! 😊

I really don't get the concept of a board table in general. Why the heck do you want to decrease your playable surface, make it lower and have an awkward rim? What's wrong with a normal plain table and some tablecloth? And yeah im playing games a lot 😅 But apart from that: nice video!
@WorldOfBoardCraft17 күн бұрын
For me, lowering the play surface gives me a better view of the game and you have the convenience of "saving" your game for later by putting the tabletop/lid back on. But I understand your reservations about the loss of player surface area

Actually I sometimes do riffle shuffle but it does depend on the game. We play once a week with a large choice of games so that occasional shuffle doesn’t hurt, it’s not as if we play poker or bridge a few nights a week with the same cards. And anyway, poker or regular cards are cheap to replace whereas it’s difficult to find a cost effective replacement solution to say … Terraforming Mars, although I did buy a second hand copy of Ticket to Ride because our board split and the cards did get ‘feathered’ from the amount of play, but it also means I have spare trains in case I loose any.
