Great build. I have a 3.5 year old and 9 month old, so toys are starting to grow beyond our current storage capacity. Going to save the video for inspiration of a potential future build. Thanks!

That's a really neat Lego build/play/storage area, the drawers are great, easy enough see the Lego color, and easy removal for cleaning. We don't have an kids so I won't be building one, I would have loved to have it when I was a kid though. The only downside I can see is making room for another piece of furniture, with four boys there's probably not much open space left. Great build !
@EveningWoodworker3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the space is tight, but Legos are a priority!

Excellent project!!! One thing I would add is a roll up door above the top bins, so it can be pulled out and cover all the bins for a clean look when they’re done accessing the bins.

Thanks! That's a great idea!

Wow, Looks amazing. Wanted to ask how it’s holding up with time? My problem with the current trofast set we have is that the drawers are always coming down on one end. Maybe because you built it yourself it’s more stable and the bins don’t get loosen?
@EveningWoodworker8 ай бұрын
That's funny you say that, the structure itself is holding up fine, but sometimes the bins will slip down on one side. I think it may be due to installing the sides too far apart. I may go back and try gluing some thin strips underneath each of the dados though so it has more of a ledge to sit on. That would help on the pre-built shelves too!

So Lego baseplates are 10”, but when you secure 2 together there’s a slight gap. So that adds up. No problems?
@EveningWoodworker2 жыл бұрын
Yes I attached them together with lego pieces and then measured the overall length to make sure it all fit.

@@EveningWoodworker nice. Came out well! I have a giant table in my parents’ basement, been there for just about 30 years haha. It’s 2 sheets of plywood with a hole in the middle plus some additions haha.

How do you get them to sort the legos into colors when putting the legos away? Seriously asking. Is it some kind of magic or something. 😑
@EveningWoodworker Жыл бұрын
Well, you have to do it with them and help them see the how much easier it is to find pieces when they are organized by color. But yes, they still have large "everything" bins that get sorted occasionally when they start overflowing!

Great project and video! You have time for projects? I have twin girls and a son, they are all still in diapers, but this would be good to build in a few more years. I have saved a link to this video. Also great use of your shop space (garage). I'm hoping to have some dedicated space one of these days.

I bought the plans but I’m a little confused what size gauge nails did you use?
@EveningWoodworker2 жыл бұрын
I used 16ga nails but you could use whatever will hold the trim on until the glue dries.

Dood not color. Sort by size, unless you have someone color blind in your space size is so much easier to find the parts you need.
@EveningWoodworker3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... I guess we're new at this whole Lego sorting thing. Color seemed obvious but maybe we should look at other options!

@@EveningWoodworker Our Lego obsession is to the point that we organize by color and size.
