"Not Wasting Time Hating Your Sound" hits different 👀👀 I like that you suggest to change your mindset to be more of a constructive self-critic rather than a hater

So intelligent and wise like always! Love this video Sophie. I really like your advice on remembering WHY! Sometimes I feel like I practice because I have to practice. Not really because of specific reason, which leads in to laziness. Thank you for the wise words :)

Thoroughly enjoying your content. I appreciate your thoughts! As a fellow musician, I've practiced since I was a kid, and I'm always interested in talking with other musicians about their own practice sessions and how they deal with motivation. These are such great reminders that I've written down for myself and my students. Thanks for posting. Take care!

I have a question about bow hold pls, usually i was told that the first joint of the thumb need to bent and flexible,but somehow when i watch some great violinist like Hillary Hahn or kerson leong,there thumb isn't bent much,looks like it is completely straight,I'm totally confuse,can you help me
@SophieCViolin
@SophieCViolin Жыл бұрын
hi! The main point of having the first joint of the thumb bent is to make sure it is relaxed. Some people, when the thumb is straight, it indicates that they are pressing too hard into the bow. For others, it is a matter of body difference and they actually play/feel more relaxed with a straight thumb. I hope this helps! :)

Hi, I want to start violin and go to school for it. Do you think 1-1.5 years is enough to get good enough to get into a school like north western or New England. I played in band but u have it up after high school but I want to go back for violin performance
@SophieCViolin
@SophieCViolin Жыл бұрын
Hi! Those schools are extremely prestigious as you must know! I’m never one to say anything is impossible, but it will definitely take so much hard work and the right people to help you. Wishing you the best on whatever you decide! :)
