Suggestion: Mount a mid-sized solar panel over the bimini and you'll have energy forever. Don't worry anymore about the battery.

Need about 3 size the boat surface area.

Wow, what a great idea for those on a budget or with limited space. Well done Fred.

Hey Fred.. If you still want to use the outboard, you can set up a brace from the transom to the floor boards. That way the rear board becomes the hull and the tubes are just flotation. Always love your videos!

Thanks for commenting and thank you for watching. We need to get this boat back out on the water next month and mess around with it again. I have a few ideas along the lines of what you were talking about, but I also want to put more air in the boat. This is actually my second Seahawk 4. The first Seahawk had a one piece floor and we used to use the gas motor all of the time with the exact same set up. Roger and Jeff reminded me that we would often use the hand pump to top off the boat after launching it into the cold water. I believe that the air in the boat had condensed quite a bit after being on the lake all day. Maybe we should’ve tested the gas motor first lol.

@@MrFredsDIY One other thought is to try out an Intex Mariner 4, which is a bit tougher and holds much higher pressure in the tubes. It's even compatible with your existing motor mount. I occasionally see them "on sale" for around $200 if you keep your eyes peeled... Best of luck in whatever you do. I will keep watching :)

My personal tip: Osb plate is heavy, polycarbonate plate is much ligter.

For the gas motor build a transom that attaches to the floor. Or use a 24 volt trolling motor.

How do you put the battery in the boat without tipping the weight? Great presentation.

I went to home depot to buy OSB and they only had 4x8 pieces! My Intex Excursion 5 is 12x5! Any tips on how to get our hands on bigger pieces of OSB? I would much rather have a two piece floor than a three piece floor!

could i row this upstream on a river for 1 kilometer with 300lbs worth of load ? (2 people and camping gear) or will the current prevent me from advancing
@infuzo14 күн бұрын
I have seahawk 3 with original intex motor. Realy nice boat, but motor is weak, to be honest. There is the powerful stream on the river where I spend time (Poland), and motor barelly moves against the stream. I'll try your lifehack with panel in front of the motor, maybe it will increase power a bit. But the motor is so weak, that I row with the same speed with oars and inflatable intex kayak (against the stream).

I had a Seahawk three years ago. I put a carpeted floor in it and used the same size motor that I am using now. I sold it to a friend of mine who is still using it.
@infuzo13 күн бұрын
@@MrFredsDIY yes, your lifehack with floor is very comfortable, but I can't make it because I don't have a car and all equipment should be fit in the 90 l backpack and bag with the wheels, lol.

Would you mind telling me the dimensions for the floor boards? Thanks

The answer is not so straightforward. It is custom scribed. If you watch this next video, I answer that question in the first three minutes.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqrKdItug9Fsj80si=2_GEYHJFfTQQN7pI

If you do the flooring structure correctly you can mount a gas motor to it I have done it

So I have a 2 stroke motor on my one but what I'm finding it starts to go under very easily as soon as you do some throttle Any ways to help prevent it been tucked underneath as much?
@MrFredsDIY3 ай бұрын
I think your problem is torque. Two stroke engines have so much torque. I’ve seen videos where guys attach supports to the floor. That’s a possible solution.

Hey! How did you go about getting your boat Emission Certified? Did you have to do that in NV? I cant register in CA until I have a completed CA Emissions Certification. Intex said they just do certificate of Origin, which I already had gotten from them.
@MrFredsDIY4 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out my video! We do not have that here in Nevada. It sounds very complicated though.
