Or it's a hole for the birds to chuck out what seeds they don't like 😁

Great looking free-standing feeder. If it ever stops raining up here I'll get back onto the feeders then the nest boxes. Thanks for the reminder.

Haha... yep... If it's not freezing, it's chucking it down (which I'm sick of this week lol)

Beautiful, Vikkie. I love helping the birds out in winter. Thanks for sharing the design and this video. I am so happy that you have started to do more videos. I was absolutely crazy about the 12 Days of Christmas series.

I do the very occasional woodwork project and I fancy making this. 🤔 I once was considering some power tools but decided to stick to hand tools because of the cold. Once you have made a few cuts with the saw you soon warm up. 😁

I love making bird tables. I have some really chunky ones, but I never thought to add planting boxes. Great idea. Thank you once again for the inspiration. 😊

I hadn't seen this idea either until they kept making them at the woodyard and then roped me into making one too 😆 I thought it was a great idea and had to pass it on! 😁

Thanks! I'll let the woodyard know you liked the design :) I've heard a lot can go wrong with a radial arm saw, but do love it for larger pieces of wood.

Lovely job, but it's not a good idea to put nesting boxes near feeding areas. 👍
@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Жыл бұрын
Ooh, thanks for the heads up! What's the reason for that? Potential intruders?
@gedreillyhomestead6926 Жыл бұрын
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Plenty of info on the old confuser but this is one:- "high levels of activity from visiting birds (to feeders and bird baths) will cause disruption to established nests and may even lead to it being abandoned. Most species of bird are territorial, so having too many nest boxes in one area can cause problems" So 'intruders' is right. 😎👍

I think your design is a bit silly vikkie. The bird house is totally unusable because it is too low for any birds to use safely, maybe you could replace it with a bug hotel. Also I think whatever you do bird always make a mess around the base of a bird table so likely the planter are going to get bird dropping and uneaten food falling in the planters or maybe that is very clever? I remember under one of my feeder i got a lot of pretty bluish flower I think they were linseed or flax i'm not so sure but they grew from the uneaten seeds for sure.
