Namaste Guru Ashish, The 2 video lessons about Transformation of sentences are awesome. The definitions or explanations of each grammatical concept or topic are given in clear and concise language, and are easy to understand. The numerous examples put each topic in context. The additional notes, such as Grammar Help and Did you know?, elaborate or further clarify the less straightforward grammatical points. Much attention has been given to presentation and layout so as to make the video learner-friendly. I hope that these 2 videos will give students a clear idea of grammatical structure and help lay a strong foundation for good English. On the whole, the 2 video lessons are interesting, accessible and easy to assimilate, and in showing that the study of grammar can be fun. With all best wishes for the best of luck in your endeavours from one of your viewers. Fazil Republic of Mauritius.

i just had one question would be glad if you can help me. why do we use 'to be' instead of just using 'be' while talking about verbs. when we look into the dictionary we do not get to see ' to be' but just 'be' but while watching youtube videos and going into grammar books while explaining the uses of verb 'be' they use 'to be' instead of just 'be;. i do know to+verb is an infinitive but i wanted to know whether it is a rule to add 'to' while talking about verbs.
@EnglishWithAshish4 жыл бұрын
Hey there! We use TO to introduce a category of a verb. Like TO BE, TO HAVE, TO DO. There's nothing more to it, per my knowledge. One more logical reason I think we do that is that is because BE works as a main verb too. So, when we say TO BE form, it's understood it includes the auxillary verbs, but the main verb BE. If I come across any other reason, I'll definitely let you know.

In the sentence, "Max is my friend, and he is a V-blogger", can't we convert it from compound to complex by writing "Max who is my friend is a V-blogger as well" or "Max who is a V-blogger is my friend as well"?BTW, thanks for the great explanation of these complex concepts 👍

The first one is general statement, and the second one is in simple past . You can't compare them; they ate both different. Check these examples: • Not all students study hard. (Expresses general truth for the speaker) • All the students did not study hard. (Talking about a particular event in the past) That's all you need to know about them. These two are completely different sentences.

On the the next day, the president asked me why I did not attend the meeting, and I told him that I slept well, and I forgot to set the alarm, however, he did not accept my excuse.
@EnglishWithAshish4 жыл бұрын
Hello, Mahboob! Yes, it is, grammatically. But it does not look nice. We shouldn't add two more than 3 clauses together. It makes the sentence wordy. Hope it helps!
