Pampered little donkey ! I wish everyone treated farm animals with so much care and attention. I remember myself chewing happily away on the ripe carobs growing on my grandparents small farm. I still love them to this day, even though the y are hard to get hold of in the UK where I have ended up living. Very unique chocolate like flavour !

Hey Harriet and Maru, I’m not 100% sure, but it might be something to look into. I believe you may come into issues with the electric fencing if the bushes/trees are touching it. I’m worried about future fire issues. I hope I’m wrong, but just to be safe. I hope the donkey likes his space!

I admire how you guys transform your space step by step for the better. So much work. But Moses seems to really enjoy his new space and considering the way you got him and his past, this makes me especially happy. I've only ever seen brown donkeys, so his spotted coat looks very fancy to me even though it is probably a lot more common in Spain. I just love him. :D I've seen people who use electirc fencing for horses test the fence with a blade of grass, if that is useful. (I wouldn't have thought of it, if I had not seen other people doing it, so thought I pass this trick along.) Thank you for sharing your journey here on youtube with us.

Buenas, bonito video.

Might be worth timing how long it takes to fill 1 tank and then just turn off the generator at that stage, let the water redestribute slowly and then run the generator for a while once more. Could save you some trips up and down the hill :-)

Always love watching your videos. Please get some spray for Moses to keep the flies away or they’ll drive him crazy. Flies also cause blight (called that in Australia) in their eyes causing blindness. There are natural salves or sprays, even homemade if you check it out on the internet. 🌸

Looks fantastic for Moses but I thought electric fences only worked if nothing was touching it?
@heycrisper3 күн бұрын
I noticed this too and my first worry was that it might cause a fire when it gets dry again?
@LittleSpanishFarmstead3 күн бұрын
It works fine, anything touching the wire can affect efficiency but the box we have can serve several km of fencing so we can cope with the efficiency loss. Actually for Moses I mostly have the box off because he respects the fence whether it is on or off. In a couple of weeks he had seen to most of the undergrowth that was touching the wire and in a few places remaining I do now need to come in and chop with some loppers!

It must be frustrating to build something (the donkey shed) then have to build another one elsewhere. Maybe you could re-purpose the old one as housing for volunteers - put up another wall & door, or just hang mosquito netting over the open side and the window and put in your tiny wood stove. It would certainly be sturdier than your poor bell tent!
