Yes. 'Scarcely' is a synonym of 'Hardly',so the same rule applies

Congratulations on some great teaching. I was, however, wondering if one uses No sooner did... if the given sentence is in the simple past, and No sooner had .... if the given sentence is in the past perfect.

Depends on the sentence. As soon as the sun rises my mother wakes up.(happens regularly) No sooner does the sun rise than my mother wakes up. As soon as the sun rose,my mother woke up. No sooner did the sun rise than my mother woke up. Hint* - look at the verb.If it is in simple present ( rises) it indicates regular occurrence.

No sooner/As soon as.. can only be used when you are talking about two things happening in quick succession. Eg:As soon as the thief saw the police,he ran away. No sooner did the thief see the police than he ran away.

If you are writing 'against' the whole composition must be 'against'. Not even one point should be 'for' the motion.The same if you choose to write 'for' the motion.Even once ,if you 'see- saw' you will lose 2 marks.
