1986 was definitely the best year of Transformers commercials. I was a kid in Sweden at the time so it's fun now watching these for the first time as an adult. The music is so cool, especially how they rework the lyrics of the main theme to suit the product, e.g. Dinobots, Stunticons/Aerielbots and Triple Changers. Love it!

When a kid could actually play with his Transformers toys and they didn't require a 20 page instruction manual and 20 minutes to transform...not that the new ones aren't really neat, they just seem to be more of a collectible than an action toy. Oh and only rich kids could afford Omega Supreme lol.

I like the more complex transformations, as a kid I never ever looked at the instructions, that was part of the fun to me. So something like the earthrise/kingdom Optimus Prime is just about the perfect toy. The truck looks great, and the robot mode is so G1 and the transformation is complex but not frustrating and ugly like the movie figures.

The Transformers were a big part of my 80's youth, and one of my fondest memories of that time was getting the Superion gift pack for Christmas one year. Funny thing is, now that I'm an adult, I have more Transformers now in the 2.5 years I've been collecting than I ever had when I was a kid! The same can be said for all my favorite toys of the past -- Hess trucks, Shogun Warriors, Star Wars, Marvel Comics superheroes, you name it.

@KnickKnacksPlasticPlanet
@KnickKnacksPlasticPlanet 3 жыл бұрын
@@FIDreams Nah, they brought back Optimus because kids were locking themselves in bedrooms and crying their eyes out. LOL. It wasn't an evaluation of Rodimus Prime's leadership. People - especially children hate change. Take off your internet bias, go back and re-watch the original G1 cartoon and the movie. Optimus is actually a pretty big chump who gets duped by Megatron at every pass presumable getting thousands of human non-combatants killed in the first two seasons(see episodes The Ultimate Doom, Heavy Metal War, Megatron's Master Plan), gets the Autobots exiled to the moons of Cybertron, (pre-movie) and gets almost the entire 1984 toy line killed because he's too dumb to not openly discuss important plans out in the open where freaking Laserbeak can spy on them and report his ENTIRE plan back to Megatron and gets Autobot city sacked. (Transformers the Movie) Actually if you think about it Optimus was a pretty shitty leader in the fact he CONSTANTLY allowed his personal honor (arrogance) to endanger his troops or the humans he always swore to protect. Rodimus is the one who like a good general presses the advantage and actually wipes the Decepticons off Cybertron (post movie) sends them to exile and ushers in the end of the war, dispatches the Quientesson threat, (shown throughout season 3, Five Faces of Darkness) liberates an entire planet of lost Autobots, (Fight or Flee) and THEN is instrumental in bringing dumbass Optimus back to life! (Return of Optimus Prime.) Like a good general Rodimus is constantly taking advice from his lieutenants (Kup, Springer, Ultra Magnus) and weighing decisions. Unlike Optimus who is always like "We must leave earth to be raped by Megatron - my honor dictates it." *For the record, I like Optimus Prime too, I'm just citing examples where he was less than great to illustrate how the 'Rodimus Prime was a shitty leader' trope is tiring.

Sky Lynx was an awesome toy. Never owned the original, but I got the next best thing, Earthrise Sky Lynx. It’d be cool to see Octane get a leader class figure. Also, it must’ve been an experience to see the movie back in 1986. Never saw the original movie till 2009. After buying the first two seasons and watching them, I saw the 1986 movie, and man did I feel the same way as the kids who saw it in the theaters. I didn't have many transformers growing up in the 80s but as of the past 7-8 years, I've been collecting G1s only and have a nice starter collection. If you was born in the 90s and later, you missed out on a really great decade.

I too have been collecting G1 transformers but I only have Inferno, Brawn, Trailbreaker and Highbrow for the Autobots and for the Decepticons, I have Shockwave, Cyclonus, Astrotrain and Blitzwing. @valiant wrestling Federation. I agree. I would have preferred Megatron as voice compared to post movie Galvatron. As an adult, I can now appreciate Frank Welker's take on an insane, and nearly constantly screaming Megatron/Galvatron, but as a kid, I really missed Megatron's raspy voice.

After gen 1, they never put any thought or care into the vehicle sizes from one Transformer to the next, but a triple changer that can change from an aircraft carrier to a jet of the same size (5:41) has to be the worst offender in the entire Transformers toy line-up. I wonder if the person who thought of that could even tie his shoes.

@@thekaiseroftheeast3895 Who said that Metroplex consumes 50 energon cubes an hour? What episode was that? There is a Season 3 episode where some wealthy Arab oil magnate hires Trypticon to work for him, and then complains that he consumes 50 energon cubes an hour. At the end of the story, Rodimus Prime and Ultra Magnus have saved the day for the Arab rich guy, but they make him promise never to collaborate never to collaborate with the Decepticons again.

@@perfectsplit5515 It was a joke, but it can be implied that Metroplex consumes as much, if not more, energy than Trypticon as "His size requires a vast amount of Energon, which limits the amount of time Metroplex can stay in robot mode." Additionally, the Autobot ship was delayed due to Metroplex using too much energon and eventually Metroplex sacrifices himself, using his energon to power the ship. All of this indicates that Metroplex, too, consumes a vast quantity of energon.
