I read the novelization of this movie years ago and from what I remember the reason Optimus wanted to kill himself was because he saw it as a last resort and the only true way to end the war. He knew the Allspark was the cause of the civil war that lasted for millions of years and he wasn’t about to subjugate earth to the same suffering. So he basically said “if I can’t have it no one can” knowing it would only be a temptation for evil.

Fun little trivia: The reason why the CGI for the Transformers themselves looks so good and still holds up, is because they used an engine to simulate the way light bounces off of metal. The way that light bounces off of a CGI object is pretty much the key decider on wether or not it's going to look real

@Mr. Jefry in 2007?.....no....no it was not.... and to be honest still isn't when it clearly should be from the large amount of films that still have bad CG because they either don't know how to properly apply physics, or they're straight up cutting corners to save money and time. What that team and render farm did in 2007 for the first film, and in the second film was incredible and an absolutely monumental task at the time. Even current day films still struggle immensely with how to correctly simulate things like metal and just texturing in general. Take for instance the comparisons between the first and second pacific rim films. keep in mind that they did this on computers back in 2007, where people still only had gigabyte hard drives and not terrabytes, 720p was still considered HD, and computer graphics cards and processing power is nowhere close to what it is today.

To be fair, the stakes are a lot higher in the setting of the Bayformers, which takes place in fictional depiction of real life. Humans are literally everywhere, and there’s no real way to easily detain Decepticons (NEST in RotF were probably still in the early phases of learning to take down Transformers). And at least for the first film, the Autobots were few in numbers, were fighting an unknown amount of Decepticons (turns out there were a good amount on Earth), and also minimizing Human casualties while also fending off the military/Sector 7. Taking all of this into account, it’s pretty justified as to why Optimus seems pretty anti-hero in the first film.

@@Malysitos Optimus started to show more anti heroic characteristics in tf2 by being more violent towards the decepticons. Since I love anti heros and find them to be the more realistic and more relatable heros we need more of the bayverse optimus is the more realistic approach to his character but traditionally g1 optimus will always be the best hands down bayverse is just more realistic by displaying what us humans are we humans are not truly good or bad we are both similar to how bayverse optimus is heroic but does a few villainous things

@@Kaiju-bm4ts nah i have to dissagre, (altought this falls into personal prefference so we dont need to argue about) i personally preffer a more, "goody 2 shoes" type of Optimus Prime, idk know why but i just tend to like more those type of characters Now, by saying that i preffer a kinder OP doesnt mean that im against him killing Decepticons, again, this is a war and is prefectabky understandable and in character for him to do so, since he is a commander But the thing is, that the way he kills decepticons is what separates him from bay's OP Bay's OP is ruthless and kills decepticos in a very gruesome and savage way, wich, altought cool, doesnt really fit Optimus Prime, the original one would probably go for a quick kill witouth pain or incapacitate them and make them a prisoner

I find the complaints about Optimus having a mouth rather odd, considering that at the time of the film's release we had almost as many designs with a mouth (Beast Wars, Beast Machines (I get that these two were Optimus Primal, but that character fulfilled mostly the same role), and Cybertron) as we had with the faceplate (G1, RID 2001, Armada, Energon). Since then the numbers have only gotten more balanced (Mouth in Animated, Prime, RID 2015 and Cyberverse, Faceplate in both WFC and FOC).

The scene is framed to be emotional. While unfortunately lacking a strong basis for much emotion towards Bumblebee in particular. Or to phrase it possibly better. It'll hit some people in the feels, but not others. Largely because it also depends on what a person focuses on in the scene. It might make some people cry because of the general actions and not because they care about bumblebee.

AOE and TLK are a little "worse" for me tbh but my god there are some really cool things in both (mostly AOE) Seeing Optimus ride Grimlock and the Dinobots into battle is something I will NEVER forget. TLK was probably my least favorite of the 5 but yea let's not get ahead of ourselves lol tbh I do want to see him and his friends watch tf2 (that's what got me into transformers as a kid) The forest battle is one of the greatest battles in movie HISTORY.

I love AOE. I like Cade Yeager and he was better than Sam. I mean, Sam, at the end of his debut movie fucked with Megan Fox over Bumblebee. But Cade wasn't for that sh*t, the guy offered to protect the saviours of the planet and his daughter. I liked also that Cade was just a poor man and Sam was literally a Prime since his grandfather found Megatron (TLK f*cked this aspect of Cade and nearly all the character in general, damn...) I also loved how that "Autobots vs Humans" conflict was made. Sure, the humans hating the Autobots was stupid but was awesome to see a mad Optimus being an ACTUAL psychopath
