I had hoped when they showed pictures of these vehicles, that maybe the opening scene would take place at a NASCAR event. Decepticons attack and then in mid race the wreckers weaponize and then transform to fight back. Nope! Just a bunch of Mad Max race cars. They look cool but man, missed opportunity.

The guns are likely being fired remotely, and since all three cars wouldn't fit in to that one area (or weren't meant to be included in that scene), it's likely that one stopped on purpose. However, the guns kept firing because it's possible the program just kept the blank shots going regardless.
