Lugnut is basically the anti-starscream. Starscream turns into a sleek fighter jet, Lugnut turns into a bulky bomber. Starscream is somewhat intelligent, Fast and Crafty, but is an opportunistic backstabber. Lugnut is obsessively loyal and physically strong, But stupid and slow. Starscream is a franchise mainstay, Lugnut really only appears in animated outside of a few toys and comics Lugnut really needs to be in more stuff

That first time we get to see the "Punch Of Kill Everything" is still a thing of beauty. I love how flustered he gets and so we're hit with him in seeming desperation transforming his hand into the classic "don't press" button and elbow rocket propelling his fist into the ground, potentially damaging even himself in his zealotry as the explosive flash and fade leaves uncertainty to the break. Whoever came up with this outrageous and amazing signature of Lugnut deserves a "well done." 🍻

Animated Lugnut is a severely underrated character and is one of the best Transformers characters of all time in my opinion.

Bro, this entire show is severely underrated, because whenever I speak about it people either don’t know or think about live-action movies, Transformers: Prime, G1 cartoon, IDW or Transformers: One. Which is kinda sad, because it was first show that made both Autobots and Decepticons look like more morally ambiguous militant-political factions rather than typical cliched “good” and “bad” guys, make a bunch of OC characters (Lugnut for example or Slipstream) that were later integrated in other different Transformers continuities, make some older characters (like Bulkhead (he firstly appeared in Energon), Prowl (from G1), Blitzwing (also from G1) and Lockdown (was shown prior this show, but was relatively unknown)) very popular, created the Elite Guard and the High Council that later became part of other Transformers continuities and very unique concept is that Great War was already ended compared to other Transformers continuities. Heck, even fan-loved Transformers: Prime itself took many inspirations from this TV show (like Bulkhead’s overall design appearance, Arcee being motorcycle and ninja-like warrior (plus having a hologramic rider) was clearly inspired by Prowl from Transformers: Animated or even Ratchet’s grumpy attitude).

It's definitely different, almost certainly they recorded the script for the opening three parter/movie at a different time before the rest of the first season. It's possible they hadn't even truly cast Lugnut for that since he only has the one line really. Perhaps they later decided to have David do the character full time 🤷‍♂️

Personally, I love the size difference, it makes them intimidating and pretty cool; also, half of them turn into some big vehicles too, so it makes sense.
