The last episode on 4kids was episode 26 "Revelations". It saddened me as a little kid that Hotshot, Scattershot and Red Alert were defeated in point blank range like that. I have not returned to watch the next episode until recently in my adult life. I am relieved that they were revived.

I think its to show the audience how they transform which is pretty cool. Also, it helps the toymakers with the transforming gimmick of the toy versions.
