I don't see why they didn't make Ironhide playable. They had his voice actor (Peter), he was part of the original cast and a well know character appearing in every continuity in some form, even BW

My guess is that they didn't want to go to the trouble of making a classic G1-style character model for him. If the ending of the game is any indication, there's going to be a DLC or a sequel featuring Optimus Maximus, presumably including Ironhide in his Combiner Wars design.

Louis Sun I'm curious why Motormaster's truck form doesn't look how it was in the G1 cartoon. Is it because of this Combiner Wars thing which some characters have features from? If I'm not mistaken, they're basically G1 designs with some changes to them.

Hasbro advertising. If you seen the last set of IDW spotlight comics, you'd notice how everyone is suddenly in a Generations body rather than the ones they're typically in (Orion Pax, Hoist etc.)

+DevGaming My first guess is they figured nobody would want to play as a minivan. The other G1 Autobots in the game are either, "fun," cars (Lambo, Lancia) or very popular G1 favorites (Optimus, Bumblebee, and Grimlock). Ironhide is definitely a favorite, but they probably figured a minivan wouldn't really fit the game, and didn't want to change his vehicle form. Like Sgt. Sunflower though: I'm just guessing.

How comes Motormaster's Truck form design is different from that of the cartoon? Is it because it looked similar to Optimus Prime's? It is kinda like Optimus's, just with a bit taller with an extra set of windows.

+Sergeant Sunflower In part it kept the sizes consistent: they'd have either had to make Motormaster a much smaller vehicle (as in, his cab would have been about the size of Wheeljack or Sideswipe's cars) or larger robot if they went with the G1 version that included his trailer. Neither option would have really fit well. And you're right that the game is supposed to be set within G1 canon between Season 2 and the movie.

As much as I like Motormaster, but his voice actor Liam O'Brien didn't sit well with me. Motormaster had this hollow, bottomless-deep voice of doom that his Stunticon soldiers listen in very real fear. The late Roger C. Carmel had that when he voiced the role. I'd wish they could have gotten someone with a deep voice like Kevin Grevioux or Fred Tatasciore.
