to me this is crash combiners done better. they didn't need the crash gimmick, they needed basic articulation like these. and it's nice that they're reversible and universal, so if they keep making new ones the possible combined forms increase exponentially.

Didn’t think aspects of Transformers Energon were going to make into recent transformer figures until recently. What I mean by that is the shirt & pants mode which came from the old Transformers Energon tv show that aired from 2004-2005. And this is in case someone else is curious about.

I saw these two as well as gamer edition Starscream and some legacy United core class figures in target this past weekend. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Legacy United and EarthSpark season two stuff.

I kinda wish that the designers would play around with gimmicks like this more in the main line toys. I kinda miss the Super Robo days of transformers. They are lightly bringing back the ideas again with some of the Legacy figures, but not quite fully embracing it.

Honestly, I hope they continue with these. I would love to see more Autobots from the show Powerlink like in Energon, and especially since I customize my figures, I want to do a SG Nightbeat from Bumblebee, and if they make Optimus, definitely want to make a Thunderclash from him.

Always bothers me when a Transformer has a windshield or cockpit moulded into the chest, but it doesn't actually correspond to the cockpit in the vehicle mode. Common issue with Starscream figures.
