Transformers G1 Returns! Episode 109 Heart of Darkness Part 2 (Unofficial Fan-made Episode)

BIG TIME thanks to Steve Parkes AKA StevieP83 for stepping up and absolutely KILLING IT as Galvatron in this episode! As you may know, our regular Galvatron voice actor was inundated with school, among other things and just didn't have time to record his lines for the previous episode so we resorted to using a lousy AI in his place. Said AI was a total PAIN to program so having Stevie not only step up and fill the role on short notice but nail the Welker style Galvatron voice has been a HUGE help and is one of the main reasons this episode was finished on time. Stevie also plays Starscream and does it so well that some people mistakenly thought THAT was an AI voice in the last episode. Holy s h i t e!!! Steve Parkes is a real person? He has done what no one else has ever even come close to doing. Actually pulling off Latta's Starscream. I'm floored! Latta is my favorite voice actor of all time. Steve, you brought a tear to my eye. Thank you! You have to shop around to Hasbro that you can do this. You need to be Starscream in an official cartoon series and a big screen movie.

I understand why I didn't get the part of Galvatron because you found another actor the day before I submitted my audition, but I'm still glad that I got the opportunity to participate. I love it! I always also had the idea of Spike being Optimus' powermaster (better than HiQ!) and another idea was to make Dr Archiville transform into a powermaster to a larger new body like Overlord, for him to take revenge on Megatron and Starscream. And then the autobots and decepticons worked together to stop Overlord (Dr Archiville).

This was a such a good episode, im so happy to finally seeing powermaster optimus prime especially since Optimus was never upgraded in the american show while in the japanese anime supergod masterforce optimus wasn't in it only his body which was used by ginrai. I am especially surprised by the voices of starscream, Shockwave, and galvatron and especially that it was all done by 1 person especially since galvatron in the last episode was voiced by ai, the voices sound so close that I couldn't tell the difference. This was so worth the wait, and I can't wait for the next episodes to come.

I am not easily impressed and I find a lot of fan stuff to be a bit cringey. But you guys did an astonishingly good job!!! I actually got chills while I was watching it. The sheer amount of labor in capturing all the sound, music, pacing, and feel of the old show was just awe inspiring. This is leagues better than anything Netflix or Hollywood has put out! All of the voice actors should be proud of their performances. I was just so blown away by how they captured the characters and nothing pulled me out of the episode! You guys helped fulfill a childhood dream of actually seeing and hearing Powermaster Optimus Prime in an actual episode so thank you so much!!! I think my only critique would be cutting to Spike while he's combined with Optimus since in some scenes he's in his exosuit and other scenes he's not. I think it would just be better to have him talking and we just understand implicitly he's connected. That aside, I have to wonder what happens to Fortress Maximus now that Spike is a powermaster. By the way, brilliant idea with the body swap by using footage of Ginrai in his exosuit as Spike. I am absolutely hyped for the next episode.

If you watch carefully, you'll notice that Spike is in exosuit when driving Optimus in vehicle form and before combination at the beginning. And he's kinda "piloting" inside the "cockpit" during the Powermaster OP Robot Mode, just like the Nebulons would be "piloting" the Autobot Headmasters in the Rebirth p.2 and 3. Nice touch!

Great chapter, wish we could have seen a bit more of the Decepticons attacking all corners of the planet (the footage exists for that, but maybe we'll see it unfold next time) and weird Optimus travelled with the other Autobots but they all vanish when we next see him, my no-prize is that they all split up to tackle the distress signals individually. Anyway, those were my only nitpicks, I love Starscream throughout this one, especially the comedy with scrambling communications.

I have no words, this is amazing, I'm like 10 years old boy again! Dreams really come true here! 🤩😍 Also, talk about coincidences 😱🤩-- back in April 2022 a crazy idea came to my head about upgrading my now old MP-10 Masterpiece Optimus Prime and Spike toy with custom 3D printed trailer parts, so that the MP-10 Prime would become a Powermaster OP -- and I specifically wanted to make it with a "cockpit" for Spike to pilot him like Nebulons did in Rebirth (rather than have Spike weirdly transform into an external rectangle attachment). Now, it's 2024 and I've been meticulously designing the 3D printed parts and still not finished with it. But here in this show I see just how cool a similar idea would be, how natural it would feel for humans to co-pilot transformers in their big robot modes. Just like in Rebirth or Transformers Masterforce. Thank you, @FanaticFilmsINC , for not just an amazing show but also for reinforcing my motivation to actually complete the "Spike in the cockpit of Powermaster Optimus Prime" toy I've started more than 2 years ago!

Super robot Optimus Prime, descends. What I've seen so far is how different the animation style of Masterforce and the original seasons are. Not that its bad but you can tell how much the technology has changed from Season 1 till Masterforce. Magami Ban's artstyle really does look like if the Movie evolved from that point to a different tune. 8:05, no way! Not the eye!! Stephen Parkes did a pretty good job on all 3. Let's see how Overlord handles the new and improved Powermaster OP.

New theory about the ending: Starscream's creation goes out of control, and Galvatron, needing an immediate solution, agrees to Starscream's plan to upload his mind into the creation to stop him. It works, but Galvatron realizes too late that he's been outplayed by Starscream, who declares himself the new Decepticon leader, Overlord. The party is then crashed by Zarak and his faction, and many of Galvatron and Zarak's Decepticons opt to join Overlord because of how incompetent both Galvatron and Zarak are. Galvatron is buried in an iceberg by Overlord, while Zarak flees with what remaining loyalists he has, vowing to return. Optimus Prime and Overlord send most of the Autobots and Decepticons into deep space to pursue Zarak, while the leaders remain on Earth, opting to replenish their Earth-based ranks by recruiting locally.

Total AI masking for the Starscream voice (though a brilliant job at trying to edit it out, only a couple brief moments that give it away, ). Same with Shockwave. Don't be ashamed of it - but also don't play it up as "THIS IS 100% THEIR VOICE" (yes it is ... with AI masking to make it sound like the OG). Great episode, great series, look forward to the rest.

My hunch is that some of the Grand Maximus scenes from Super-God Masterforce will be repurposed to represent Fortress Maximus, with BlackZarak animation used for Scorponok, and with Cerebros living on Nebulos in peace, Grand (who's both a Headmaster and a Pretender) will be FM's new partner. 🙂
