I believe the QC issues for MPM Bumblebee is just extremely random. On mine I have no trouble with his vehicle mode aside from the fact that it's a bit hard to tab his doors in but the ankles in robot mode are just super loose that I have to lean him more forward than it should have been. btw you forgot to bring down his other heel piece on the wheel.

First off, you're my favourite reviewer :) I've been following your content for a while now and love the enthusiasm you often bring to the table so to hear your disdain with MPM-03, though I respect your opinion, was disappointing. I heard Hasbro collaborated with Takara on this project so I figured it'd be a tad better than a Hasbro "Masterpiece" and a couple points below the level of an actual MP. To me it ended up as expected. Same can be said in regards to the quality of the packaging/instructions. Aside from his side panels that secure the torso being a slight challenge I have no QC issues. Everything seems to tab fine in both modes and he stabilizes well with perfect joints and decent paintwork. Lucky me. It's truly unfortunate the figure you received is in such a condition. I must say you gave an honest view, and I have the utmost respect for those that do. I also believe these faults are with your figure and sadly won't be with yours alone so the people should know what they might be getting. Sorry for the rant and thanks if you managed to actually read it :P

Well, it's a movie figure so... I guess that cheap, misfit, rushed feeling is kinda accurate. That said, this is my second favorite movie BBee so far (First being AoE High Octane BBee (don't ask why)). Keep up the good work Ben! :D

You forgot to put down the spur side on his feet. Its things hanging on his backings wings that you call back kibbles actually is almost accurate as the movie CGI. For it be same as the movie it just should rotate up side down.

The masterpiece is based on the first movie, so this guy is based on the camaro concept. The second movie one/the human alliance is a zl1 concept.

They are different designed, yes.. The MPM-03 is based of Bumblebee in his 2007 movie form which was a 2006 Camaro Concept, whereas his Human Alliance vehibcle was based on his ROTF appearance which was based on a production Camaro ZL1.

The front end says its not a production..... The turn signals are outboard of the headlights, they were inboard in production, it has a hood scoop at the edge of its front hood (bonnet) which was moved further back on production models that have a hood scoop, and it had slits and the bottom of its front fender which were removed in the production models.

With respect, if your reasoning is based solely on Has-Tak Vs. 3rd/4th party, I'm not very interested to hear it as my inquiry is based on design/quality/functionality, and not about whose name is on the box.

The rear window sections that swing down in robot mode aren't they meant to swivel again so the sharp tip is facing inwards? that is how the Computer model is in the film, I designed a transforming movie accurate version myself so many of the details I am familiar with LIKE the wheels FINALLY sitting within his ankles :D Tho I am TOTALLY OVER anything Bayverse I still Really love some of the engineering on this and wonder if somehow some of the design sketches I share din forums made it to this design?

Great Review Ben! Besides the head sculpt and extra paint, I'm happier with my Human Alliance Bee.... he is a better robot mode no question, but not enough with all the QC issues for another $100 out of pocket... shame I was really looking forward to this Guy. Hopefully OP will be better.

Not really that much QC issues actually. His alt mode might look messy when he's fresh off the package but when you transform him from bot to vehicle mode yourself, you can fiddle with him for a bit to get him transformed smoothly. Didn't have problems with mine.

i think they need to rework the battle mask cs every bumblebee figures doesn't look really good with the battle mas, the slide gimmick makes the mask rounded and once it slides down, the head looks bigger

I reckon the instructions and packaging are so bad because it's also being rushed out by Hasbro as well as Takara. I suspect due to some bullshit laws or regulations in the US Hasbro had to use that box insert with the ties over a clamshell. They're also going to be producing a lot more than usual for the US market as well as the Japanese one which I can see having a bad effect on production.

I think the MP figures short cut abit on the vehicle modes, since most folks display theirs in bot mode. Its a shame, because its bordering on not being a Transformer, and more like a statue with articulation. People genuinely fear transforming their MP figures mostly due to the cost of the figures.

Possible QC issues? Sounds like Hasbro sabotaged them...but after the mishaps with the shoulders of Ironhide & Ramjet (those were straight Takara, right?), who knows? But seriously, Actar Rakit did a review of MPM3, and his seemed to peg together in vehicle mode just fine. (And those instructions seem quite Hasbro in nature, too.) That said, that's just too much a concern for the higher price they're charging - $100 for something that's on par with the MP Cars!? I dunno...I may stick to my Deluxe Class Battle Blade Bumblebee.

+kkjcid Regardless of what the quality of the product is I'm personally still adamant on supporting the first part providers first and foremost, while weijiang may make better products I feel its wrong to support people who have literally just straight up reversed engineered products that aren't theirs and then sell them to make a quick buck. It takes money away from the companies that produce this stuff in the first place, you're biting the hand that feeds you essentially. While I'm not exempt from buying KO's I always buy the original product when getting a KO, regardless of how crap the figure is.

MPM-01 was Starscream and MPM-02 was another Bumblebee mold, having shoulder cannons, various lighting gimmicks, and large, silver rims, but not too many other significant differences from this guy. I'm not positive, but I think they were only released in Japan, as they are extremely rare to spot and incredibly expensive.
