In the original Marvel comics, originally cybertronians could not transform, the Decepticons created that technology while preparing to attack the Autobots. In the G1 cartoon, it was the opposite: Autobots designed transformation technology to hide from the flying Decepticons. In both versions, the other side copied the tech before they arrived to Earth. T-Cogs were an extra added in G1 season 3, when Blurr and Wheelie had to get one for the Autobot city on Earth to turn into Metroplex.

You're very right in that! & It completely slipped my mind but with that being said I still would've rathered see this head in a different direction. Hopefully the next few trailers win me on board because I so madly wanna love it!
