The military mode and how it looks with the shield on its back makes it more of an Animated bulkhead homage than a Prime bulkhead homage- very strange for them to take ques from that version instead.

They marketed it that way cause they know we want Prime figures. But then they give us this shit and expect us to just be OK with getting this shit. The BW fans and UT fans and G1 fans and Bayverse fans all get shit, but the rest of us Animated and TFP fans are left in the dust. And of course RID 2001, RID 2015, and Cyberverse fans can keep on dreaming.

Personally I know exactly how to fix the legacy figure. Call it “legacy bulkhead” NOT “legacy prime universe bulkhead”. If they didn’t call it prime bulkhead it could just be a new design for a new show or something. That’s how I tried looking at the figure and I love the figure honestly. But I do own the first edition and it’s definitely better but I like legacy as a redesign or a g1 version

Legacy Bulkhead may not look like Prime Bulkie, but he FEELS like him. Its got that chunk factor, that heavyset aesthetic, and that signature mace head and hand. Just a wonderful tribute to what the character stands for in my opinion.

A more fair comparison was with the 1st edition and the RID one. The Legacy is more of a pretool for another character than anything else. I have all of them and I think the 1st Ed is almost like a MASTERPIECE. As for that specific Legacy, look up the "General Optimus Prime" reprolabels from Toyhax. That set suit the mold well.

Legacy Bulkhead isn't hard at all to see as Bulkhead. You just have to go into him knowing he is "Bulkhead as an '85 Autobot".

I think it's great as a G1 bulkhead but what I don't get is why did they do a G1 style for the prime characters when other characters get their original appearances G2 laser prime Transmetal 2 Megatron Ect ect

No details from Animated Bulkhead the OG either...I mean if they could squeeze in the face gimmick (albiet badly) onto Gnerations Thrilling Thirty Blitzwing, why couldn't there be a nice big white star on Bulkhead? Or his tread feet? Green jaw? Distinctive back kibble? Anything? Idk I know this is supposed to be Prime Bulkhead, but it'd be nice if Animated got the occasional reference here and there these days...

I think it's fine as bulkhead. To me it feels like a different interpretation of the character to fit in with the rest of the line. This comparison feels like if I compared the original depthcharge and the collector's club one and complained that it wasn't the same.

Funny you mention that Depthcharge, cuz I DID review it and I feel like that mold perfectly captures the character and design elements of Depth Charge in a new mold. It's actually one of my favorite Deluxe class figures in my entire collection. That being said, if it was an entirely different interpretation then they shouldn't have put "Prime Universe" on the box. When Legacy Arcee clearly resembles Prime Arcee, and Legacy Knockout, while not as much, still does, I would expect the same from this Bulkhead. Still a really good figure, but it just doesn't scream "Prime Bulkhead". Again, if you saw this body with a different head on it, would ANYONE say "they could repaint that into Prime Bulkhead!"? No. lol

I actually just got the classic deco Legacy Bulkhead this weekend. The camo one is really tempting tho. I just don’t like that the cab of the truck is made of translucent plastic on the classic deco version.

The old one is a better *PRIME* bulkhead but if we ignore the *PRIME* aspect of legacy bulkhead then he's a pretty good figure. Also, can you leave a link to where you got the legacy bulkhead?

I own the legacy Bulkhead and I think it's good for the G1 style it's trying to achieve. Definitely a great figure

Not made for Bulkhead? Uh…ok It’s literally a combination of Animated and Prime Bulkhead in a G1 style. So it’s not gonna be rotund. For that, you’d have to get Gnaw. I love it. It’s alt mode is Animated Bulkhead all the way.

@@Jcc2224 I dunno. I like it. I think it’s a decent Bulkhead. But I agree, it could have used more elements from him. I’m not sure how they would have done it though. And I apologize if my comment came off wrong. I was mostly kidding. But you know how text is. And they said nothing of it being Animated, but the alt mode is far closer to Animated Bulkhead than Prime Bulkhead. Each their own :) Bulkhead is one of my favorite characters. Also, who makes that Prime Bullhead?

Maybe my emphasizing in the video overshadowed the fact that I like it too. It's a good toy and I don't think it's an awful fit for Bulkhead, but when it's called PRIME Bulkhead and it has no resemblance, it bugs me. I will always have the thoery this was meant to be a generations G1 style age of extinction hound that was last turned into bulkhead because there was a more G1 style hound was coming in The buzz worthy bumblebee so that idea was scrapped and as I said this mold was turned into a bulkhead

Funny you mentioned AOE Hound seeing as when he was first revealed lots of people myself included, thought he was Bulkhead until the name reveal. I am surprised there hasn't been an Optimus reuse of him.

My 5 Transformers I'd keep would be Energon Megatron (my favorite childhood toy), Armada Tidal Wave, Titans Return Trypticon (my first new Transformer when I got back into the hobby and my mom surprised me with him on Christmas Eve), Masterpiece Shockwave, and Robots in Disguise 2001 Sky Byte (my first Transformer ever)

As someone who got into teansformers collecting because of the prime TV show and the prime 1st editions been so damned awesome . I was really pissed that they didn't do bulkhead anything like his show design apart from the head . I hear as a general transformer its good but itd in no way anything to do with the prime i.p its not bulkhead at all . I have a 1st edition with a takara breakdown i'll stick with those guys . Bulkhead has a very loose left arm but i seem to remember that was a common Problem with the mold. The alt mode is smaller than I remember

Legacy Bulkhead looks like he was meant to be Heatwave or smth. Like give him a new head, paint him red, replace the tarp with a ladder, and give him one of his energizer tools and you have a fairly decent Legacy styled Rescue Bots Heatwave Alternatively but kinda lamer, Beast Hunters Optimus. Same idea, new head, red and blue, replace the tarp with the jet pack, and give him either the minigun or the Star saber.

I never owned the TFP Bulkhead ever which I wish I did. Matter fact I don't think I had any of the TFP figures from that line. Definitely would be a great idea to collect a few. That Legacy one kind of reminds me of a figure I had in 2007. It was this Armorhide from the first movie line. Well just barely reminds me if it I mean the whole torso has that vibe just it doesn't have the windshields on the chest

Originally I thought Legacy bulkhead was going to be a partial pretool for Legacy g2 optimus with the structure of his legs and arms basically being almost identical to the g2 prime figure but then g2 prime was revealed and it was what I expected with the legs and arms being partial reuse but from a completely different figure which was earthrise prime. I think Legacy Bulkhead was just meant to be a new g1 style Bulkhead as he has cues from both Prime Bulkhead and animated Bulkhead but is clearly still doing his own thing, but then they went and labelled the figure as "prime universe" so yeah it gets a bit muddled. Never got the money for the reissue prime breakdown before they sold out and never restocked, and I don't got the Unite warriors prime Breakdown which was kinda the start of these "g1 style prime characters" so if I ever end up geting the new bulkhead He's just gonna have to use Breakdown's hammer himself.

I got legit hasbro 1st edition bulkhead, prime and starscream there all awrsome . So much better than the R.I.D versions i have those to and the voysger ztarscream is pretty good but not prime or bulkhead they suck..BUT ratchet and wheeljack are 2 of my favorite main line formers ever in my very limited humble experience . I moved on to collecting other stuff over mainline

How about NOT marketing a figure as a character from a specific show then if you wanna do something new?. By your logic, every toy line for every TF movie and show should of had the characters look completely different from the show/movie the toyline was marketing. If that was the case, so many tf shows/movies would probably be affected from the toylines not resembling the source material period.
