Always loved how shockwave in every iteration is intelligent and a scientist, but is deceptively strong. For a decepticon that doesn't go in the field much, he's able to easily overpower Megatron and even optimus on occasion. Also, his sociopathy is genuinely terrifying. Out of all the Aligned Continuity Characters, Shockwave is the most consistent. His personality didn't change at all, because why would it. His canon arm and newer more robust body would be a result of what he would do after Grimlock ripped off his arm and threw him off a giant spire. He would create another space bridge, because that was his main goal in the Fall of Cybertron game. And he would of course make something like the Cortical Psychic Patch, because only Shockwave would make something that would get results. Cliffjumper even recognizes him at the beginning, because in F.O.C. Cliff tried and failed to jump him in the sea of rust. He lost that fight too. And this isn't even mentioning what he did in Season 3, which even further proves my point.

Then it dawned on me. he shrugs off those blaster bolts so easy He must have known that he would have survived a point blank explosion. So basically Shockwave contributed nothing to the Decepticons (unless you wanna count that 1 time him and Soundwave paired up to get a fossil piece of the Predacons). Soundwave was tasked by Meg to decipher codes and being a communication officer, which stole him from any actual action. That’s what makes people think he didn’t contribute much to the Decepticons. But please remember he is the 2nd best gladiator in the Pits of Kaon, only after Meg. My theory is Meg is afraid of losing Soundwave should he send him out on too many skirmishes which is why he kept him on the ship most of the time.

@@theotv5522 Well because of Predaking the autobots lost Ultra Magnus from combat indefinitely for a few episodes, who never regained his full strength after, started actually losing battles for once instead of winning with the power of "hero team" (Optimus many times, Wheeljack, Ultra Magnus in the caves) Shockwave also finished the synthen formula, and was the only person to realise they could use the explosion remains from his facility to recreate the omega lock which started a new race to rebirth Cybertron and end Season 3 (And start a new plot for the tfp movie) Shockwave contributed plenty for the 13 episodes he was available in

@El Tio Asmodai The characteristics of misogyny go beyond the personal treatment of others, but let's further accentuate or revisit my suspicions by remembering G1 Shockwave ("Female Autobots? I thought they were extinct!... Well, okay, I'll just kill them.") and Cyberverse Shockwave (This guy had the same mentality as an incel for most of the series "It's hard being the only smart one," he sees others as competition and friendship as a weakness, racist as well to the Seekers, but moreso to Slipstream, his choice of assistants and which bots to bully are more often fembots (Shadow striker as well for example. Shockwave could do a good job at surgery if he's soooo smart, yet his sloppy job costs her so much.) While Tfp Shockwave is TAME compared to literally every other iteration, his core characteristics stand. In fact, Shockwave never thought he'd be forgotten because he credited much self importance, (Megatron will make exceptions for Shockwave, he's SPECIAL). While some stuff of Tfp Shockwave is just typical of how decepticons treat each other, and he is very forgiving compared to others... On the flashback episode, seen here. 1. Fembots in Prime are typically small. 2. Arcee mentions that she would transfer her Tcog to Bumblebee but her body might not take surgery ( I don't remember the specifics but she was accentuating how since she is small, she might not be the best candidate). 3. "Might makes right", Shockwave expected the cortical psychic patch to be harmful enough to kill her, (which it wasn't), but the expectation it would plus that she is small, seems like a particular prejudice towards her. Wouldn't he want to secure the data of what the autobots had? Can't do that if she dies. Later, In anger Shockwave acts rather stupidly (or arrogantly), chasing after them on an unstable space bridge. Was it revenge he wanted? Did he expect to make it back after defeating them? Either way a wounded ego can act very "illogically". Not that he would say that and admit he has Emotions. So that's my thoughts.

Shockwave was always one of my favourites in tfp. His intro in Out Of The Past made a great first impression. His voice in my language's dub, though, is a little unimpressive. That's why i'm upset that the dvd's for seasons 2 and 3 don't haveenglish audio as an option (season 1 did). Or Predacons Rising. That dub was terrible. Among other things, Shockwave sounded like Ratchet.

I might need to watch TF Prime now! I wished for the Autobot roster to have Jazz and Ironhide instead of Bulkhead but Decepticons were on the money with including Megatron, Soundwave, Shockwave and Starscream.

Bulkhead is one of the best characters imo. He is so sweet but also flawed and has a kind of veteran mindset that is both very relatable and yet clearly sometimes not the mindset to be in. And yet he also defers to others and is quite self deprecating. I love that guy. Seeing IH or Jazz would have been awesome but Bulk is a solid character. Soundwave revolutionized my love for the character I already had, and basically the entire cast is gold and the best representations of the characters I've ever seen. Highly recommended if you truly haven't watched this show.

i'm pretty sure there was a concept art for Ironhide (TFP iteration) but was put aside for Bulkhead due to the personality of the character that was going to be in the show. Plus, at the time, the DOTM Ironhide was killed off in the Bayverse... so to not confuse audiences, they sidelined Ironhide for Bulkhead. btw, his concept art is a combination of G1 and Bayverse in the TFP-style ... in other words: *"perfection"* (and not a Ratchet clone)
