A fact that people often forget is that Shockwave is actually at LEAST on Megatron or Prime's level in terms of combat ability and power. It's just that Shockwave is more content with using his scientific mind on his experiments and research. After all, Shockwave only follows his science and logic

i love that shockwave is capable of emulating rage, he says he only follows logic but thats a contradictory idea as logic is defined by the individuals needs, he found pride illogical because its not his need, he is limted like any one of us in perception and he feels rage in face of "illogic"

I voiced him in this iteration. Thank you for watching! When I first auditioned for this role a number of years ago, I read the character description, and I had his voice come to me instantly. I understood I needed to make it completely original, and so I went with this deviation of my voice.

And I think you said it right, there are a lot of impressions out there which, while evoking a chara's nostalgia, are not that original in their execution.

Shockwave is most media is depicted as around Megatron's level or actually being even stronger than him. It's just that his ambitions and goals lay elsewhere, to the more scientific sorts. He prefers to use his brains over brawn. In a way, Shockwave actually nerfs himself BY keeping his emotions in check in favor of his logical side Because Shockwave favors more on his scientific hobbies, he pretty much lets Megatron lead the Decepticons until he deems it logical that he take over, he doesn't really care for the Decepticon cause much
