Transformers: The Longest Commercial Ever Made

The Transformers film franchise has made billions of dollars in ticket sales and merchandising. Yet Transformers Age of Extinction has more product placement in three hours than most films could stuff into a trilogy. These are movies that Michael Bay built around one very specific thing. He turned movies into really long, really expensive advertisements. Are the Transformers movies fun? Absolutely, but do they get one thing very wrong, almost certainly.

What is the best blockbuster franchise of all time? FUN FACT: The original Transformers 80s cartoon was itself made to sell toys. So at least this KIND OF, in a funny, very ridiculous way, sticks to its roots. Also shout out to Dope Rodriguez who I forgot to place in the description, amazing artist!

very scary *Ahem.* If you live in a big city where you are surrounded by logos all the time, you wouldn’t notice that because it is fairly realistic. If you live in the countryside where there are less billboards and stores, you probably will notice it because it is unfamiliar to you. You also have to understand a core purpose of this movie is to sell toys.

You get the guy who directs movies where shit is always blowing up, you have him go around the world shooting the most insane shit he can think of, and then you get a bunch of animators to CGI in robots and brands to the footage. Don't worry about if the plot makes sense or the characters are good or something as simple as if the aspect ratio is consistent, just make a movie that will make billions of dollars in box office and way way more in merchandising. That was basically Paramount's method on those first five Transformers movies. And it definitely did work.

@@mg6945 sad reality. I hate these movies that were made for the sole purpose of making huge amounts of money with no consideration for how they make it. Yeah the movie's ultimate goal is to make money duh, but I believe making money comes naturally if the movie is actually good with good story and characters. Not just product placement and CGI fights to please the kids that have no idea what is actually happening and are there solely because it looks cool. This type of filmmaking becomes really repetitive after a while.

@@kanishkasahoo3761 Lego bricks are from a single company, but they have been so unique noone even thinks of the company LEGO; almost everyone considers it a toy type. It's a phenomenon where when a company creates a unique product that becomes popular, the name of the company or the product loses its value as it becomes a synonym for the resource's name. When I saw Transformers AOE in theaters, no one sighed and rolled their eyes when he stopped to take a sip of beer. There were laughs or really it went over people’s heads.
