The pumpkin color scheme is a reference to the 2010 Takara universal dominator unicron figure. It’s just the armada unicron with that color scheme. It’s also the unicron I chose to display

I actually prefer the pumpkin colors to the other 2 versions. I never liked the color scheme of Unicron and I love orange and black/dark grey, so that would absolutely be the version I would get.

On the topic of Unicron, I got to talk to Gregg Berger (Grimlock) and Paul Eiding (Preceptor) about their experience with Orson Welles, Unicrons va. Both told just about the same story, the cast wasn't allowed to be around the guy. They both told about how when he would arrive to record his lines, they where all taken to a separate room in the studio, and from there, they'd watch a limo pull up, his driver would get out and take a wheelchair out for him, and in he went in order to record Unicron lines. Jobby has more 3rd party Unicron repaints than shits given by Orson Welles about the part.

Ya know, Jobby re-reviewing figures aint bad too, i mean yeah Cell is the standard figure and these are just recolours or minor retools but Jobby poured his heart and soul into every review. Honestly as much as I like the '86 movie accurate Cell, the original just *pops* with it's brighter colors, making it more of a standout in a collection.

I opted for the Pumpkin. I absolutely love its color scheme especially since im not too much of a G1 purist. Also, i noticed that pumpkin had a smoother transformation than everybody seemed to have with the original cell. I would suspect some tolerance fixes took place. Anyway, great review, Jobby!

I thought Pumpkin was accurate until I saw the Cell 2.0 (didn't know it was a thing until now). Pumpkin seems to be more accurate to some of the artwork for him as well as some shots from the movie. Unfortunately the movie was much better than the cartoon in terms of consistency but it still wasn't perfect. I noticed that the white face and hands were always consistent but the orange and grey kind of moved between Pumpkin and Cell 2.0 though out the movie, primarily the final battle.

I went with the Pumpkin version. I honestly prefer the saturated orange and gunmetal greys, it looks just plain better to me and really pops out. Its a much more satisfying color scheme to me, as muted colors look too dead to me. I also did get the wing upgrade kit for it too... I honestly didn't think I would feel a difference in robot or planet mode, but it makes a massive difference. An already imposing figure gets a real intimidation bonus with those larger wings. Overall its still the crown jewel of my collection but if it was not meant to be animation color accurate... I kinda would've wanted red eyes like a heathen 😬

Jpbby, my man... I started collecting Transformers figures when kingdom released and saw your amazing reviews, (loved beast wars) you got me into the hobby, and I am grateful. now when I see your reviews and listen to the transformation music it reminds me when I got my first transformers from the mail... it is an amazing memory, it made me feel like a kid again. when I was growing up my family had little to no money, so whenever I wanted a toy for my birthday or Christmas I received a knock off toy of the brand (I knew what we where going through and I was grateful) So now that I make my own money I can buy myself some transformers toys. The Pumpkin Cell definitely has a spooky aura to him, the darker color scheme does make him come off as sinister. And even I can’t deny the accuracy of the Anime Color version. Either way, both honestly look much better than the original Cell.

Honestly, I kinda like Pumpkin the most on colors. Not sure why, but the darker colors seem to work for me. The OG Cell is definitely my least favorite, I've never liked the baby blue color that often gets slapped on Unicron. Even the HasLab abomination had it.

I know Jobby wont see this but might as well for those who wanna know why the colors are different. Pumpkin's colors is a reference to the first interpretation of Unicron's G1 colors and the Dreamwave character bio. Throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, the orange, light grey and dark grey was the accepted color scheme for Unicron as plenty of toys and merchandise utilized that color scheme. The anime colors is the modern day accepted color scheme because of better quality available for the 86 movie, the muted blue and muted orange is in line with how current releases of the movie seem to color him. And is generally seen to be the intended color scheme. However Im of the opinion that both are color accurate to g1 since hasbro/takara have both interpreted as orange and grey or orange and blue. Its honestly personal preference at this point.

Really loving 01 Studios Unicron and i am definitley picking up the Anime Color Version, i am not that crazy about the Cartoon Look but i like it more than the Other 2, Pumpkin is a bit too Dark for me personally but the Third is really awesome! Hope the Primus they're making is just as Awesome or even Better. Also i would love to see other Variations of Unicron from them, like Armada or IDW, would be freaking mind blowing!
