Continuously using the old designs will get you know, old. People are already getting tired of seeing the same G1 style figures over and over. That’s why they made bayformers look so different. And when people got old of that they went back to g1, but the cycle will repeat itself.

This is literally one of the best versions of Soundblaster, literally bows to no one. Imagine if they added Sunstorm into the series as a clone of Starscream. I think he would be the Transformers Version of The Joker, particularly a mix of Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson voiced by a voice actor I highly recommend for the role: Cameron Monaghan with his Joker Voice (Jeremiah Valeska from Gotham)

In the 80's G1 Headmasters series that only aired in Japan(but it's been released on DVD here now), Early on in the series, Soundwave had a 1-on-1 battle with Blaster(called Broadcast in japan) where they both died. Then a couple episodes, both sides' Headmasters revived them in new bodies as Soundblaster and Twincast.

I think Soundblaster got a inferiority complex about himself. Excluding him, existence of other repaint characters kind of make sense. If we take into account that how Cybertronians are created or born. Lots of them have same body type maybe because their is a class. Starscream and his seekers belong to Aerial military class, Megatron and Impactor to manual labor class,Arcee and Elita /Moon racer and Chormia(Delivery class) have same body so does prowl and barricade ( Law enforcement). Cliff jumper and Bee has same body type they are also belong to some class. So does Ultra Magnus and Optimus (Multiple job offers) before magnus got that blue armor.
