I love making books. I’m gonna make a journal like this one I can carry in my purse. Thank you for the tip with the baking soda and coffee! I made a journal for my daughter 4 Christmas’s ago using scrap leather from Tandy leather company. It was a baby blue leather cover with 4 different types of paper and made an accordion file envelope in the back. It turned out really beautiful. Since then I have been hooked on making books.
@pennycandyys2 жыл бұрын
I love that idea, and for a small book the amount of leather you would need wouldn’t be much. Was the leather both inside and outside the cover?
@poetsdreamsatc2 жыл бұрын
@@pennycandyys Hi Penny! Yes it was leather inside and out. I didn’t glue the pages down to the leather covers. I cut a matching strip off the blue leather to wrap around the journal. (Think of a travel journal.) I stayed with that concept. I didn’t want it to restrict the amount of her inserts (since she was in Scotland) inside so I kept it where it just wrapped around the book. I tied charms on each end of the straps. I had a blast making this journal. I hope you have the same joy I did Penny!

Nik, I had to smile to myself as I could imagine hearing my children saying..."really, do you think you have to make everything yourself?"...too wit my answer is, "yes, yes I do." Actually I just wanted to tell you I loved your project and the clever way you added the gold framing on the covers.

Thank you for this video Nik, I appreciated the clear instructions and commentary. I think many youtubers don't realise how difficult it is some times for people like me to understand what they are saying - they talk too fast, in accents which I (as a Brit) can't quite understand. Hands - with false nails and rings - occupy centre stage, rather than the crafting itself! And they often turn their projects around, moving too fast - 'what did they just do?' I ask myself and have to watch on 1/4 speed to find out. I'm keeping this video in my 'Processes' folder - so that I don't forget to tip in the endpapers too!
