Transforming Skinny Jeans Into Cool Straight Jeans! (& how to easily open jeans' seams)

Hello friends! In today's video, I show how to convert skinny jeans into these cool stylish straight jeans with a stripe down each side. You know the younger gen z is saying that skinny jeans are out so I wanted to show a way to repurpose skinny jeans to fit the current trends. You don't have to use the exact same colour scheme I did though. You can use another pair of jeans that are the same color, you can use an even crazier colour that's not particularly denim. The possibilities are endless!
At the end of the video, I mentioned the possibility of adding a simpler godet to the bottom of the jeans. If you're interested in a tutorial on that, please let me know!

I just wanted to let you know that I have used several of your tutorials to convert my wide-leg jeans into straight leg: 1. tapering both the inner and outer leg seams (not just one side like most KZbinrs), 2. recreating the flat-felled seam, which was on the outside leg, 3. leaving the inside seam open in order to sew the outside seam flat, and 4. lengthened the U-shaped crotch to raise the waist and make it more comfortable. SUCCESS! It was a big project, but worth it. All thanks to you and your videos! Thank you SO MUCH! :-D

It is great that you show how much work goes into alterations, all the preparation, unpicking, marking, ironing, cutting, it takes longer than the finishing, and if its not done carefully it would ruin the garment completely. I have worked as a machinist making ladies separates, then, ladies underwear then maternity wear. I then worked as a sample machinist. I then worked for a few alteration companies. I did this for 45 years then 3 years ago I started a new job working for a company making furniture, it is very good quality and expensive, but the people we make for, or sell to appreciate the quality far more than people buying clothing, I can't understand why someone would happily pay £6000 pounds for a dress then quibble over the cost of the hem. I love my job now, and will only do alterations for myself my family or a few good friends as a favour. But I love watching you doing very nice alterations I hope your customers appreciate your work.

I can relate so much to what you said. My customers certainly appreciate the job I do. When they move they drive back a long wayto get my alterations. But as everyone working in this field, I can tell you that they simply can't comprehend the amount of time a good job requires that's why I try to balance the way I do the job with all those little tricks and hacks I've been learning throughout the years. Love!

Hi Brenda, if you go back to 7 30 you will see that some of the original Jean is cut away to keep the original size at the waist and hip.

Why does the left leg material seem to show more insert material than the right Leg? it seems to pull towards the middle. Just curious.

You might have gotten confused because one leg is a little bit twisted on her. If you watch the video more carefully you'll notice it when she turns. I hope this helps.
