There's pretty much any kinda npc appearance mod you can think of, from strictly lore friendly to anime girls. That's what's great about the modding community, the give you the tools to make Skyrim anything you want it to be.

I don't mind if vanilla give varied face presets and hairs. The problem is, all their faces look the same, including main story NPCs. I play Enderal and I see different faces for main characters, even with the limited Skyrim features.

Gotta say, this is the first time I've seen completely overhauled NPCs that felt like they actually fit in Skyrim. There's a realism and faithfulness to the original art style that makes it look like what I'd use.

True. So many NPC model mods end up with people looking like Ken and Barbie doll. Plastic and lifeless. Or like cheap prostitutes drenched in makeup

Probably the best video dedicated to NPCs overhauls I've seen in a long while. Definitely one of the *_must watch_* channels about Skyrim for new players as much as for "seasoned" players like me who still wants to play a balanced overhaul of the game that keeps the original vibes preserved. Improving the NPCs' behaviour in particular, making the whole vibe richer and more believable, is gonna be Bethesda's biggest and harder challenge for the next games coming I believe. Starsfield will be the benchmark to actually see where they're going with that and about what we can seriously expect from the new Elder Scrolls and even Fallout when they are finally announced _{in the next 5-10 years span!}._

Would be great to hear about any mods that make the main story less wooden / more varied (like the one where you are able to persuade the Blades to go easy on a certain reptile).

I'd highly recommend Project Ja'Kha-Jay for the Khajiit. The mod overhauls all the vanilla named Khajiits making them different types so now all archetypes of Khajiit from the lore are present ingame instead of all of them convieniently being the same type.

I tried giving it a chance, but the humanoid ones killed it for me. The normal khajiit look AWESOME, but the humanoid ones just look so ugly. Plus the mod author refuses to make them an option, and deletes any ones comments voicing their opinion on it. Basically tells them to fix it themselves, even though it’s the #1 most complained about thing of the mod lol. That plus the mod authors attitude was a deal breaker for me

The point of the mod is to distribute the different lore types of khajiit through the khajiit ingame, and the Bosmer-like khajiit are part of the lore. Complaining that a mod does exactly what it sets up to do, but in a way you don't like is stupid.

There's a mod that makes the fancy hairs you can download in mods have realistic more vanilla texture. It's called Salt and Wind. Helped a lot making the model looking hairs more normal and not fried like original vanilla hairs.

My computer used to run Skyrim pretty well, but after I changed a few components, it always crashed the video drivers and thus, I could no longer play this masterpiece again (as I haven't been able to afford a better computer since then either), so seeing how much love this game still gets, and how much the community still find ways to improve it, just warms my heart

Skyrim is unstoppable. It's even eating other games now. Someone ported the entire world of Dark Souls 1 into it, as well as the combat systems of several Fromsoft games through DAR.

At this point I find myself exchanging my own list for your picks. If you make a base-modlist with wabbajack combining your recent graphics mods + this one with all their dependencies it would be AMAZING! Cause I can picture myself just going back to these videos when setting up a new playthrough and then add gameplay mods on top that ill change around depending on the playthrough. You do an AWESOME job!!!

Vanilla Skyrim is pretty bad, the graphics were not even good for the time, the combat is bad, the stealth is bad, the quests, story and NPCs are with a few small exceptions dull and its utterrly riddled with bugs. You can do and be lots of different things but they are all very shallow. I've spent 100s of hours in the game and it's only mods that make it great and immersive. All my best and memorable experiences playing the game are from mods.They even tried to subvert that with the creation club by charging for them which fortunately died.

@@101Mant yeah it was so bad that at the time it was released it won game of the year outselling batman arkham city, portal 2 and uncharted 3, the game indeed pretty bad that people spent hundreds of hours into the game that have not many mods back then, the dev is pretty bad that they allow us to use not only their modding tools but also their internal development tool for the community to mods their game as they like, don't be an ignorant please if you really been playing games since 2011 you know how revolutionary skyrim is, why do you think they repeatedly release the game even on console that have no mods support, it's because the game still selling like crazy, I play fully modded on pc but still enjoying vanilla skyrim on my switch wherever I go, the community did wonder keeping skyrim alive but it doesn't mean the dev did an awful job letting the community do whatever they want.

I have some sugestions for a follower overhaul video: Sidekick is healer: Can make a follower use non self healing spells Andrealphus' Bleedout Revamp: I use this to prevent abusing skyrim's bleedout system(follower faints when defeated) Administer Potions and Poisons to Friendly NPCs: self explanatory XD

I have question regarding the guard armor in the video: Is it the "Guards Armor Replacer" or a different mod? I've checked the video and the mod on nexus and the armor shown, like the Riften and Markarth ones, are completely different. Same thing goes for Idolaf Battle-Born since the armor on him looks really dope. If they're different mods from the guards armor replacer, could you please link the mod or give the name of the mod? High poly npc overhaul 2.0 + dirt and blood is my go-to! Doesn’t have a lot of requirements and even has option to add hair physics through HDT-SMP!

Great mod list, it's so nice seeing an npc mod that updates but doesn't bimbo-fy everyone lol There's a great Khajiit mod called "Project ja-Kha'jay- Khajiit NPC Diversity Overhaul" - it adds in the different types of Khajiit in Elder Scroll lore, not sure if it'll conflict with the one mentioned in the video. I would love to see a video mentioning better player physics, especially with hair and clothing

Hey there, this is a beautiful collection (and thank you for making it, I'm using several mods due to your recommendations). But I'm stuck at the character appearance. I'd like to know exactly what you used to get Gerdur looking like she does at 6:53, for example. I know that you've provided a list but either my load order is wrong, my settings or wrong, or I've made an error somewhere. High Poly True to Vanilla says that other face textures are necessary. That's where I get screwed up - I looked at some of the textures that were used in the mod's screenshots, and they do change the NPC appearances, but none of them look like the changes in this video. I know that this is outdated and that the video itself is a year old, so you may not remember all these details, but I'd love it if I could get my NPCs looking exactly the same as yours. I'm trying, and I AM getting positive changes, but they don't match yours.
