Being poor does not mean being dirty. There may be people who look well but they need help. We should try to help each other

It’s unbelievable to see really how so many seniors here work in services sector (cleaners, dish collectors etc) I’ve not seen this anywhere else in the world. It’s my top criticism of SG, old age years should be cherished with grand kids not working yourself to death to survive.

Sadly, those who do not have any children struggle the most, they are unable to retire bcos the cost of living + inflation just keeps rising

So heartwarming to see volunteers take time out of their day to help those in need!! But it also makes me wonder what is our govt doing? That volunteers/non-profit orgs have to step in everytime to offer support when the govt/top 1% in sg can do so much more to help.

Being in the bottom 1% may not look like the scenes in this video. This person clearly has hoarding issues, which can be anyone regardless of their social standing. The neatness of homes is a separate factor from being less abled. Just to make it clear, by neat and clean, I am not referring to the condition of items of how clean/new the furniture looks, I am referring to how arranged and organised a house is.

Whenever I see charity work by private sector, I was wondering did our govt do enough for the poor ? What is the role of the MP in a consitituency ? Are the MP going to sit in the office waiting for someone to knock their door or take the initiative to walk the neighbourhood and see who need help!

Pardon for my saying, that is a quite a narrow way to see thing. Active pte participation in community works does not mean govt is doing nothing. In fact, a normal society should have heavy private volunteering services presence more than the govt. Govt can come in financial resources and smoothen out red tapes etc. Btw, i am not govt mouthpiece. haha.

This might be an unpopular opinion but wouldn't it be more effective if the volunteers donated money and paid a professional cleaning company to clean things up? If I were to get a managing director or lawyer to spend an hour cleaning up it would be a waste of human resource allocation..
