In a dungeon I ran last year, there were four factions I was aware of. But the druid quickly created a fifth faction when she decided the giant lizards kept as guard beasts needed to be saved and returned to their swamp. Another faction got involved and captured the lizards, and they are now in a private zoo, to be sold to nobleman who owns gladiators. It'll be interesting to see if the druid will be able to persuade the other PCS to spring the lizards and bring them to the swamp.

Interesting! Sounds like some good emergent story

Nice inspiring suggestions, that can be fun indeed. I have a hard time making factions, now I'll try again. Thanks for the video.

Factions residing in the dungeon are good, but always remember the "three estates": 1st, Clergy; 2nd, Nobility; 3rd, Merchants. What if a party from each or some of these factions are after the same thing at the same time? Great way to put a timer on the party to keep them moving along. They can work for any one of these estates, or be in competition with all of them. This goes with you video on Reputation and how factions view the players.

I think that an important thing to note is: 1) What happens if the faction succeeds, and 2) What happens if the faction fails.

Yeah, it can be helpful to have that mapped out!

Dwarves dig here: 1) Create factions aesthetics 2) Define factions' leadership 3) Set goals for factions

I've found Dungeon World Fronts also useful for a Faction to help codify the steps to get to the goal. Then this gives the player a "plot", but if you give a player a goal, they'll do anything to achieve it.

I've used fronts before too! They are great

B-1 is the perfect example of a factioned dungeon crawl -- and that's why it's rated #1 Dungeon

I find that dungeons with multipe factions often break my verisimilitude, as I cannot think of a reason why multiple groups that are not friendly to each other live in what is essentially one house or maybe village. Still, apart from making all monsters one type and having individualy with divergent goals, what is the best way to include factions that feel natural?

I am listening to your materials. I lack a lot of reading out loud chapter names.
