Good stuff! Another one I'd love to see: one of the camera modes from Everquest 1 basically let you move the 3rd person camera around, pretty far away even, and then after you're done moving it, it is static and you can watch yourself run in big circles in an open area to "kite" enemies around. Was a really neat camera mode

can you make a video on how to make a third person camera just like resident evil 4 remake?
@HALbotStudiosАй бұрын
Ohhh, I do love RE4! :D I can add that to my list! It might be a while though. But it shouldn't be too hard. Just start with the third person template and move the camera in closer to the character. Leon moves pretty slow as well, so I would lower the movement speed. A lot of the look and feel comes from the great animations they have too though. So it can be hard to really emulate it exactly unless you can make the animations.

@@HALbotStudios First off, thank you so much for responding-I really appreciate it! Do you have any suggestions on how to approach making those animations? For example, how to handle head movement with the camera, or how to prevent the camera from clipping through objects? I've had this concept in mind for a while now. My favorite game of all time is Dino Crisis-I played and beat it at age 7, and it still holds a special place in my mind and heart. After seeing the Resident Evil remakes, I've been really inspired to create a spiritual successor to Dino Crisis. Since it seems like neither Shinji Mikami nor Capcom are planning to remake either game, I feel like there's room for someone to bring that survival horror experience back with dinosaurs. I don't have any formal degrees in game development, and I'm still in the process of learning, but making a game similar to Dino Crisis is a dream of mine. I want to prove that a dinosaur horror survival game can work in a modern Resident Evil-style format.

@@CrimsonMythic That's awesome! I can tell you have a lot of passion for it. Here's my honest advice. Making something on the scale of Dino Crisis, even a small version of it, would be a massive undertaking. Especially for a solo dev. There's nothing wrong at all with having that dream and even working towards it, but just know that it's going to be a very long road. I would strongly recommend starting out very, very small. Make something in a week or maybe a month. Focus on learning one thing at a time and really understanding how it works. Something like "making those animations is a massive task." Things that you think will only take a short time to implement will end up taking much longer. Try and really keep your scope in check with your first projects. I mean like super limited. I would encourage you to do game jams. They don't have to be official. Just set yourself up to create something in a week. From start to finish. Don't let yourself move on to other projects before you finish. Keep things small and simple. I should probably make a video on this... lol Anyway, I really do love your passion and I'm glad you found the channel. Feel free to keep in touch on Discord or here. Best of luck!

How do you aim just like RE7 or 8 ? Been trying to figure this out
@HALbotStudios2 ай бұрын
That is not an easy answer 😕 To be honest it's probably not realistic to be able to expect to recreate something exactly like RE7/8 as those games were created by a huge team of crazy talented devs. But I think we could get something close. My ultimate goal is to create a set of tutorials that will allow you to create a survival horror game in the same vein as something like a RE7 or 8. It's going to require a lot of time though as there's a lot that I have to build to get to the point to where we can start looking at things like inventory, weapons, wielding weapons, animations, etc. I'm sorry if that's not a great answer 😢but I just want to be honest.

I'm getting a weird issue. For some reason my First Person camera is lagging behind the movements of the body a bit. It's like it's not properly sticking to the head socket. Anyone else had this issue and fixed it? EDIT: I have no idea why but it just stopped...
