Very cool drill. I like how you do mention putting rifle on safe when transitioning to pistol.

One of the best drills, because there is no way to tell when circumstances might dictate that you have to fire from your weak side. I could tell he had a hiccup on drawing the pistol that first time, just goes to show we all have to practice the fundamentals constantly, and even then there's always a chance that one can make a mistake.

Great drill. Concerning your holster I know you noted its a WRS but I'm curious what attachment platform are you using. I prefer the single leg strap as opposed to the double but all I can find on the Blade Tech site is the double platforms.

Hey Kyle, so years ago I was taught with multiple targets to move down a line, left to right or right to left, one round each then when you get to the end of the line he gets two then move back the opposite way giving the rest a second round and then you move into your assessment and follow up rounds is the threat is still active. The idea was to get a round into each of them quickly to buy you time, because they are drawing weapons to engage you or are engaging you. What benefit or purpose is there to engage one target in an incapacitating fashion, then the next then the next when you're giving the last one roughly 4 good seconds to engage you? Just curious, especially because the guy who taught my instructors was also a unit guy.

why do you prefer 40 over 9mm? i was told a higher mag count, less recoil and almost same stopping power made the 9 much better? thank you for your time sir
@503airborne
@503airborne 10 жыл бұрын
Stopping power is a sort of made up term. They have similar energy (joules) transfered into the target. More rounds is better, but so is a bigger projectile. The .40 just happens to be a halfway mark between more ammo and a larger round. That's why it's referred to as the compromise round and why you'll see a lot of CAG guys using a G22 for their direct action side arm, and a G19 for their secret squirrel operations when concealment and more rounds might count.

I noticed the holster for your pistol and noticed it's on a D/OS rig, however I couldn't help but notice the half size drop leg rig you have as well. Just wondering if you cut that yourself and if so, why? Also, why have both at the same time? Looks to be a pretty decent set up though. Thank you and have a great day.
@503airborne
@503airborne 10 жыл бұрын
The one leg strap allows you to get the holster higher and the strap higher in the groin area. A lot of guys will wear them down their knees, which is not how it's intended to be used. I think Blade-tech sells that, or it could be a a G-Code piece, the make some blade tech compatible gear.
@Airborne08
@Airborne08 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I see people all the time with it so low, and I don't see how that's comfortable, it definitely isn't functional. It looks like a blade tech drop leg, only cut in half. I was just wondering cause he doesn't have a holster or anything attached to it. The holster is attached to his belt rig.

AirborneVet 2008 Or this rather www.tacticalholsters.com/product/Accessories/GCA75.html Then he just removed the strap from the leg mount and screwed it into it, or maybe he has some sort of quick detach mod. It wouldn't surprise me either way, we're talking about a guy that came from a unit that looked at an alice ruck strap adjuster and said "let's build a sling around that".

Looks like you had an issue on the second run with the safety when you transitioned. If you had an ambi safety you could have just flipped it to fire with your thumb and not had to search with your index. Seems easier to me.

Can I get a good explanation on why it is important to apply the safety on our rifles while in the process of drills, yet Handguns (Glocks, M&Ps, Sigs) that have no safetys are Drilled the same way. Please be cool with the answer. If you think it Through, There should be no difference in keeping the safety off until you are in a low ready and done with the drill.
