Guys, I carried the 1911 concealed for years. Round in the chamber and safety on. Carried in waistband behind right hip, and I'm right-handed. In a very short time it becomes part of your wardrobe and you don't even know it's there. Wear a baggy shirt or Hawaiian shirt in hot weather and no one else knows it either. Very fast to deploy.and get the first round off. Has the best trigger of any handgun, period. And, I don't care what you say, getting a round of .45 ACP on target first is a pretty good way to start the fight off. Very serious piece of self defense gear. Thanks.

I've never understood the people that will pay hundreds or thousands for a gun and ammo that is $1 per round. The reasoning is because it's reliable and their life is worth it. But then it ends up sitting in the safe and they carry something cheaper because they're afraid they'll have to use it and it gets taken away. If the gun saves your life and it ends up in evidence who the hell cares? That's the entire reason you carried it. It did its job. You're alive. Great video as always.
@TheOl19118 жыл бұрын
+TacticalDesire thanks my friend. I'm getting a lot of msgs from people that are upset that I would carry the Wilson? I even had a fellow demand I PayPal him money because of this video?!?!?! LOL. I know of one detective that carries a Wilson Professional on duty and the thing has it's finish worn to the metal almost. I also am talking to a guy here who is a "SWAT" member that is saying the dept is looking into the Wilson CQB Rail as their secondary/duty gun so.... But anyway I appreciate your thoughts!
@gmaster456123748 жыл бұрын
I'm convinced some of the dumbest gun owners and people in general congregate in KZbin comments. It just never made any sense to me to buy the best gun you can afford and then not carry it. I get there's collectors pieces etc but most of these guns are replaceable. Your life isn't. I've seen people on forums who will buy a Glock but their nightstand/HD gun is a .38 Police trade in revolver because they don't want their Glock to be taken away if they have to use it. And Glocks are a dime a dozen. I just don't get that mentality. The entire reason you carry a gun is to have it in case you need it to save your life. If you have to use it god forbid the gun did it's job!.

I've carried polymers for years but now that I'm in my *cough* 50s *cough* I have been putting in the research and I am slowly transitioning to the 1911 platform for my EDC as well. If a weapon designed over 100 years ago is still in massive use, that's something I can't go wrong with. There are some things I will have to learn and train(and some things to unlearn). The gun just feels comfortable and reliable compared to a lot of my polymers. All the new "tactical" bells and whistles in the world can't measure up to those attributes. I feel odd that I didn't do this a lot sooner. Thanks for the video.

Yes, you can carry a full size, all steel 1911 year round. I do. I switched to a Glock 19, then a Glock 17 but finally went back to my 1911’s. I first learned about them intimately in 1968 at MCRD in San Diego. Jeff Cooper taught me the Modern Technique and it was 1911’s from then on. I also trust my life to them. Make some new videos sir, we miss your insights.

For a quick liquor store robbery, a striker - fired polymer gun is perfectly acceptable nowadays. But for formal occasions, such as robbing a bank that has a lobby and a security guard, a snubnose revolver, an m1911a1, or at the very least, a Beretta m 9 are de rigueur. One should carry a snubnose revolver from Memorial Day till Labor Day, and the m1911a1 (preferably) or the m 9 after Labor Day.

I tried many different spare magazine carriers and what works best for me is a leatherman multi tool pouch. It rides nicely on my belt and the flap snaps shut. I'm the only one that knows what is in it. It handles my 1911 magazine and even most of my double stack mags for my Canik. The 1911 is my favorite carry choice. Do you think that having a good certified armorer look over a CCW gun for any flaws and potential relibility problems would be an added plus?
@TheOl19118 жыл бұрын
+Lil'Yeshua definitely is a good idea. 1911s do require more maintenance than a say Glock. As an example a LE agency that allows 1911s they have a dedicated armorer just for the 1911 and the officers that carry a 1911 are required to have a back up 1911 just in case one goes down. Maintenance for a Glock as an example is pretty straight forward and cheaper for sure over a 1911. Also the expertise level is different.

I know this video is old now but I carry the 1911 pretty easily and I’m a really tall skinny guy and I can put it under my t shirt not really an issue. I feel like it’s underrated as a CC gun because it’s a weird mix of everything. It’s full size and long with a long grip so you have the accuracy and velocity but it’s really slim so it’s easier to conceal than bulkier guns. And it’s a 45 that’s slim. 8+1 in the chamber isn’t bad for capacity in my opinion

Hey boss, is +P ammo alright to use in a 1911?
@TheOl19118 жыл бұрын
In the Wilson its fine to shoot +p ammo. I would not put a steady diet of +p ammo through any gun but with the Wilson its fine. I can't speak to other brand 1911s but the Wilson is a full carbon steel and it has a shok-buff in there (Clint Smith hates them LOL) so it helps the battering... but the most important thing is the recoil and magazine springs are strong to assist in the reliability.

***** Thanks for the response! I own a Springfield operator, so I'd like to think it's in the same ballpark as quality goes, haha.

What! 2 weeks without a Theol1911 video? Maybe I'll rewatch the Pug Nose anthology. I got to get a life!

+baba65lou LOL. Well I'm out of the country right now but seems like WIFI works but. Just stay tunes as I need to do a Pug Nose update vid as I discovered something right before I left. I'll be back soon. Thanks for the support!

gstea1 I just had a conversation with somebody the other day about how most people are carrying Sub Compact single stack mag so it really doesn't matter, and after recently reading article from BJs. Gov most perpetrators end up carrying a snub nose revolver or a sub compact polymer pistol as it is so I think we're on even playing Ground
@AlexLopez-vx3cr6 жыл бұрын
8 round magazine + 1 in the chamber still feels great with my Hogue grip on my 1911. I have a 10 round magazine too but it gets bit bulkier and heavier to carry. But 9 rounds with a .45 that can hit dead on accurate every time is plenty for me.
@clplusp87626 жыл бұрын
Carrying a 1911 with a spare mag is cool sometimes but when I carry a polymer 9 without a spare mag, life is just more simple

@andog60922 жыл бұрын
Bro carrying a gun with no back up mag is pointless. Mags fail, what you gonna do if your mag fails and you can't fire a single round
@clplusp87622 жыл бұрын
@@OMGWUNSIU I definitely love my M2 as well! I would’ve preferred an M1 but having a Q5 totally justified having mag compatibility.🕺🏻

I carry a Taurus 605 .357 magnum snub nose revolver & absolutely love it. Very easy to conceal very light just feels great in my hand. Yes I own 2 full size 1911 pistols & yes they are my favorites BUT I myself have found it very hard to carry these bulky & heavy pistols. I guess if I forced myself to carry my 1911 pistols more I would probably get more used to carrying them.
