Wow I love this!! I am an English and German teacher & I think this is really thought provoking. It is sometimes really hard to keep my 3 languages apart & I randomly pull a word from another language 🤣 It’s amazing to see my bilingual daughter blossoming in her two mother tongues at the same time, often in the same sentence 🥰 Code switching for the win!

I'm going to send your channel to my husband, he is working on his M. Ed. right now and he's a Spanish teacher, so I think he would find your videos very helpful. I appreciate that you include the transcript of the video, as well.

Hola. I'm a Spanish teacher too, researching how effective it is to use Spanglish as a teaching/learning tool. My experience tells me that the conscious use of Spanglish is a great choice to break barriers to learning and promote rapid language acquisition. Now I want to prove it! If you and your husband are interested in this area, please get in touch with me 😊

Hola Tolentino! I'm Ruth. I teach Spanish using Spanglish, I have a channel called Spanglish Fantástico and I have written a book for beginners in Spanish, also called Spanglish Fantástico. I was emotionally moved to see your video, gracias, muchísimas gracias. I haven't heard the term translanguaging before, but it is what I do! I am so pleased to meet you! Hola 😊

Lol the little girl reminded me of me as a ESL student but then I met my amazing 8th grade ESL teachers and I became a teacher myself!

Very interesting perspective on how the brain works and which parts are activated when learning and using languages. Thank you for this thorough and in-depth look. Have you shared this video with universities? This is very well produced. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the kind words. I have not shared it with universities. Maybe one day. I love the work of Ofelia Garcia. She explains things well. Take care and keep in touch.

Is it like Spanglish? For Spanish speakers? In a bilingual classroom, I only use translanguage when Ss do research, but they report in English.

I’m bilingual and this trans languaging is making things even more confusing,
