Zu Byerly ola is wealth. I am 75% yoruba through my paternal grandpa and maternal grandparents. Ola is a prefix. It can Olamide, Olawunmi, Olgusoye, Olaiya and so on. Ola is wealth so it must be before some names.

Some of these were common for me but several that I are common for another round are : oluwafunnmilayo, olumide, adewale, temitayo, kayode, tokunbo, ayodele, adenike, lekan, olanrewaju, abimbola, segun, olayinka, opeyemi, damilola, and then there's my name that for some reason keeps coming up in comedy and songs nowadays - Olufunke. A less common name that I'm interested in is monisola.

WELL DONE Blessing... permit me to add a Yoruba proverb to your content. I have been opportuned to discuss Yoruba names with foreigners and I always start by saying all Yoruba names have meanings and context. The context is usually a compressed summary of a very long story. "Ile laa wo ki a to so Omo l'oruko" That means before you name a Child, you'd have to look at your home front (paraphrased). In other words, to look at your experience and what's going on with you as the parent to choose a name. Some names will tell you what the parents are passing through, what's going on with the extended family, status, and/or what the parents are praying and envisioning for the child. Thank you again.

For more traditional food: Amala with Ewedu/Gbegiri Eba or Pounded yam with efo riro You could try Some Nigerian pepper soup (it's quite spicy) Asaro Moin Moin (Beancake) My personal favourite is Efo riro(Spinach) but there is so much variety to choose from. I hope you enjoy yourself and deffo let me know some of the food you tried and if you liked them.

@@DiamanteBox Ọlá and ọlà though the same in sapling but different in sound. ỌLÁ. meaning honour the á sounds d r M. but in wealth it sounds D r m please belive me I know what I am saying. Yorubas in the olden days value HONOUR more than WEALTH

I thought Oreoluwa could also be friend of God

King Jordan Ore is a homophonic word so it has multiple meanings and pronunciations. The ore used in the name Oreoluwa is not the friend pronunciation of the word. If you said Ore Oluwa Ni Mi, that would mean I’m a friend of God

Doesn't "Ore" actually mean "friend"? You said gift in the video and I'm just curious if Ore has an additional meaning. Great vids Blessing, keep em coming. Btw. I always wondered what "Boyewa", my last name, actually means. I figure since "wa" means "come" that it has the meaning of something or someone is coming. I'd appreciate your take on that.

@@DiamanteBox Thanks much for your elaboration. The word "Boye" seems rather uncommon, at least I never heard it uttered in any context of a conversation. Would you be able to break it down? I guess I will have to book one of your courses as I understand quite a lot but fluently speaking is still an issue. Anyway, thanks again for your time and effort.

@DiamanteBox

Ayodeji means Joy becomes two (Ayo - Joy Di - Becomes Eji- Two) Ore(High intonation) and Ore(Low intonation) are two different words, one means friend the other means gift. The name is 'gift from God'
